Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
You've watched the excitement of ER, now experience it first hand!

No sleep in 36 hours, and you lay down for a well-deserved rest. Then the call comes in; a freeway pile-up with multiple victims. Ambulance is 5 minutes out. Welcome to the life and death drama of Chicago's Country General Hospital!

As the hot, new ER intern, your career starts out simple enough, with a gentle flow of patients sporting only minor cuts and bruises, but the stakes quickly escalate into full-fledged ER emergencies. Through it all, you will have to complete goals, dodge sticky politics, deal with gut-wrenching ethical dilemmas and engage in steamy romances. It takes more than what you learned in medical school to ascend the ranks at County General!

1.0 out of 5 stars How Much Does This Game Suck?, 10 May 2006

This is one of the worst games I have ever played. I remember a long time ago a game called Life and Death, The Brain which was really exciting, you got to perform real cyber operations and it was informative, instructive and fun. I thought ER was going to be more of the same. Big mistake! I've only played this for half a day but that was more than enough. I know it's not supposed to be the real thing, but curing patients in a game like this should require a bit more thought and reasoning than waving your hands above the patient like you're casting some kind of spell. And the interface is truly awful. Doctors walk through the walls and furniture as well as round and round in circles for no other reason than bad programming as far as I can see. The controls aren't terribly intuitive, and at the end of playing this, I realised I'd wasted a couple of hours of my life that I'd never get back. In short this is a game to not just avoid but run a mile from. Truly awful.

    2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 23 April 2006

There are many things wrong with this game. There's no "help" feature and the tutorial only tells you about 1/4 of what you need to know to play the game well. The controls, icons and functions or buttons are not explained at all, you have to work it out for yourself. There isn't even a paper guide with the CD Rom.

The way the characters walk is very annoying, they sometimes turn around and around and walk through objects just to get somewhere two feet away from them.

The missions are not thought out well at all. For example, in the second level there is a mission where you must diagnose all the patients in the waiting room and decide which room to send them to, based on the severity of their illnesses. This lasts 10 game hours, which are very long. Your energy, composure and hygeine levels are depleted until almost nil, but you have to keep on diagnosing or you lose the game. Many of the patients coming in can't be diagnosed and require lab tests, but you can't send more than 3 to the lab at once, so sometimes it is actually impossible to win this mission, if too many of them need lab tests. On top of this mission you have to take care of two other patients. This is hard because you must stay in the Waiting Room assessing patients, you're almost collapsing from exhaustion and when your needs are low, you're a bad doctor.

Over all, this game is disappointing. It seems badly thought out. Not only is it not like the TV series but it's nothing like being a doctor either. You do not see lab tests or symptoms, the game automatically diagnoses patients. Some problem solving and logic skill would have been nice. The tutorial is very poor and needs to be much less vague. A help feature would be nice, or at least an explaination for what you're looking at. It's fun for an hour or so, but it simply gets boring and frustrating.

I enjoyed playing the game, it's not as interesting or challenging as I hoped but fine on a dull day, but I have attempted to play it on 2 different PC's and on both the game has crashed and I have had to start from the beginning as even if I had saved well beforehand when it gets to the same point where it crashed it happens again. Other than frustrating me a lot it's a decent enough game
