Design
Let's just say it: Cowon's iAudio U2 is gorgeous, easily one of the best-looking flash-memory players we've seen. Sleek, shiny, and eye-catching; you will literally have strangers asking for a look. The elegant, rounded corners and the finely threaded silver ring circling the five-way navigational control give the U2 the regal bearing of a Porsche, vs. the flashy lines of the BMW Z3-like iRiver iFP-790.
Measuring just 73.8 x 25.0 x 18.0 mm and weighing in at a mere 34g, the U2 is even smaller and lighter than the already tiny iAudio 4 and fits easily in a jeans pocket or around your neck using the included lanyard. The included plastic black-and-gray carrying case sports plenty of openings for the U2's controls, but showing the player off is the best part of it.The U2's 128x64-pixel display may look small, but it manages to cram in plenty of information, including artist, album, and track names; time elapsed, time remaining, and a progress bar; graphic music levels; file format and bit-rate info; the current repeat mode; and a battery-life indicator.
We love the U2's minimalist but intuitive controls. Unlike other flash-memory players that are riddled with hard-to-use buttons, dials, and controls, the U2 keeps it simple with the five-way navigation control, a record/A-B repeat button, a play/pause button, and a Hold switch. You'd think finding all of the U2's menus, modes, and options would be tough with so few controls, but you will be zooming though the player's features within minutes, no manual needed.Along with a standard USB cable, the U2 includes a key-size USB adapter for PC connectivity. Cowon smartly moulded a key-ring hole in the adapter's plastic casing, so you'll likely have it with you at all times.

The iAudio U2 is the latest innovative product to come from Cowon Systems and the deisgn is every thing we have come to expect from them. The new 'handy-mini' is small on size but big on features packing everything in from a voice recorder to direct MP3 encoding.
The ultraportable iAudio U2 is compact yet extremely functional. With a great new joystick navigation system and a large 4 line graphic LCD screen, you can easily select your songs or choose from the 1000s of sound settings and other menu options using one hand. Other controls on the device are a Hold Switch, Play/Stop button and the Record button.The great colours and polished finish look fantastic and you will want to show this off to your friends and colleagues, however as part of the great accessory bundle you get a protective rubber case to keep the shiny finish out of site and safe from harm.
With an integrated FM tuner and direct MP3 encoding options there are endless ways to listen to music. Further enhancements are promised through Firmware upgrades, that should include increased audio Codec support.
