2.0 out of 5 stars A Major Disapointment, 1 Jun 2005
I'm a huge fan but i'm loathed to give this more than a few stars. The first disk - One night only celebrates it's 3RD release, and why i don't know it's not particularly great - twice was enough. The second disk - Live in Euphesus is a solo Elton show for the first time available since it's bootleg release following the live webcast, it isn't bad but we are of course getting many of the same songs as on disk one but a bit more stripped down. Disk three is a better show but again we are only given the short television broadcast version most of us video recorded back in 2002, and so again nothing new. The third disk is just a look back at some of his best videos with recently recorded interviews - it's a bit boring. The other really annoying thing about it is that it explores live work only from the past 5 years (bare in mind his 35+ year career) and a few mediocre videos and a few new interviews just don't make up for it. What a waste of four disks which, with a little more thought, could have been a fantastic release for fans.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't do what it says on the tin, 17 Jan 2005
This DVD collection purports to be a comprehensive review of Elton's live career (especially the fourth disk). But unfortunately it's a massive disapointment. Something like 90% of the footage is post 1990's. Many of the performances on the fourth disk are not even live, instead having Elton mime. There's something like 5 minutes worth of footage of live performance from the seventies (and I'm being literal here). Even worse, despite the claims on the pack, there are few rarities on display. It's mainly bog-standard live sets consisting mainly of the well-known hits (played out in a strangely simple plinkety-plonk manner that Elton seems to have devolved to in the last decade).

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely sensational, 23 Jan 2005
By A Customer

The DVD comprises of 3 incredibly well recorded concerts in the last 5 years, MSG in 2000, Ephesus in 2001 and Opera House in 2002.

The songs vary from his early years songs right up to Songs from the West Coast.

Take my word for it and get it, I was hooked on him from hearing the MSG concert, and haven't looked back since.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some jolly good music from a jolly good musician.
I think the review by peter_the_giant is rather unfair. This collection does not claim to be "a comprehensive review of Elton's live career", it only attempts to demonstrate that... Read more
