Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
When the Ashikaga Shogunate collapsed in 1467, a series of wars erupted in the islands of Japan, ushering in the Sengoku Jidai - the Warring States Period. In an epoch that bridged the eras of the blade and the gun, fearsome leaders aspired to unite the land under one banner.

Samurai Warriors stars the brave Sanada Yukimura, leader of an elite band of samurai and ninja. Sanada's journey will take him to the hallowed battlefields of Okehazama and Kawanakajima, and inside the embattled walls of Osaka Castle, where he will come face-to-face with gun-toting troops, echelons of ninja, and deadly kunoichi (female ninja).

Take on the role of Sanada or another of the legendary samurai and ninja. Each one has its own scenario branches and multiple endings. By your own hand, forge a new destiny for Japan!

Wield katana (swords), fling deadly shuriken (throwing stars), use kunai (daggers), kuzarigama (sickle and chain) and other lethal weapons. Engage master swordsmen. Execute the stealthy leaps of the ninja, and unleash deadly Musou attacks. Unique character-specific actions emphasize the personality of each character. Circular blades, false staircases, floor pitfalls, and other traps lay hidden within castle environments. The auto-formation system (AFS) automatically generates floor plans and conquest routes for each castle level, delivering a new experience with each play!

The development of the action in Samurai Warriors is not determined by the force for which you are fighting, but rather by the advancement of each character. Scenarios will branch off, leading to different conclusions each time. The active mission system (AMS) triggers a distinct mission during each battle. To accept or decline the mission is up to the player. Missions evolve depending upon player performance and the tide of battle. Success or failure can affect scenarios in later stages. With 500 variations, the progression of missions is unique with each play, adding depth while heightening the urgency and excitement of combat.

Create your own original character by challenging a series of mini-games in New Officer mode . Choose a new character and then train that character for combat. Characters created in New Officer mode can be used in all other game modes. Up to 15 new officers can be created. In Samurai Warriors' 2-Player modes, you can go head to head with your opponent in Vs. mode, or co-operate in Story mode and Free mode.

2.0 out of 5 stars Samurai Warriors, 3 Oct 2005
By A Customer
Visually this is a fantastic game, plenty of fighting.BUT
after afew battles the enemy numbers become huge and you only have upto 4 bodyguards, who are crap.

No one from your alliance army ever helps so really its just you v Everyother baddie.

Good hack and slash but your on your own and after afew battles you don't get any where.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where have all the tutorials gone?, 26 Oct 2004
All the other reviews for this game (including PS2) have been by fans of the series, this is the first in the series Ive played. This game plunges you straight into the action with no explanation as to what you're supposed to be doing or, for that matter, how to do it. There is a build your own character mode however, again with no tutorials, just tests, you dont even have the luxury of being able to practise because due to bad design and lack of forethought means you have a time limit. I dare say if you persevere it might pay off but the lack of tutorials leaves you feeling lost an constantly getting whupped by the enemy hence getting very frustrated. If you have played the others you'll know what to do but new players will feel definately lost.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best in series, 24 May 2006
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Samurai Warriors for both ps2 and Xbox is one of the best in the series, the fact that the enemies can fit on the screen is a big help, unlike in Dynasty Warriors 3 and 5. The few downsides are that it is impossible to fully max out the stats of your character, and that there are too little characters. But apart from that this game is totaly amazing!
