5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome RTS, 20 Jun 2009

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I highly recommend this game to any serious RTS fans.
I have bought and played all of the Sudden Strike series. Sudden Strike II and Resource War are by far the best. This is what gameplay is all about.
It's a pity Fireglow have lost their way with Sudden Strike 3 - they were sitting on gold and didn't know it.
Software developers could make a bundle of money (in my opinion) if they returned to isometric 2D games with great gameplay.
Fancy 3D Graphics are not the answer (and no - I'm not a Luddite).

1.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A DOG!, 9 Mar 2006
By DJB (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
I'm a diehard Blitzkrieg fan, and I know enough WWII history to shake my head when I see Tigers deployed in Operation Barbarossa, or Tetrarch tanks in the Western Desert. The interface is utterly inferior to Blitzkrieg, lacking much of the functionality. Various types of units either seem to perform strangely (artillery requires close supervision: it cannot range and register as it can in Blitzkrieg, and must be told to fire each round) or not at all: my engineers refused to lay OR lift mines when ordered to: just wandered about uselessly. And those tiny, indistinguishable little soldiers! Yikes! What a pain! The logistic system is much too awkward and complex, compared to Blitzkrieg's elegan system. What about that utterly useless sniper?: a poor creature compared to the lethal killer and sharp-eyed scout in Blitzkrieg. The graphics are not notably superior to Blitzkrieg: in particular the supporting aircraft and ships are so poorly drawn they belong in an arcade game. And what's with those "allied forces?" I can't really see the value in them as opposed to just giving the player a few more of his own units. Overall, a bomb. Sorry, all you SS fans.Blitzkrieg Forever!
