Pure have always been ahead in the dab radio market but with the xt upgrade they have achieved a great quality radio. The wooden cased radio has a clear blue display to see the scrolling text which displays programme descriptions. it produces crystal clear quality transmision which gives you no crackle like fm does. It has a handy alarm clock allows you to wake up to the radio station of your choice and did i mention it has a handy kitchen timer.It has a very easy one touch autotune to allow you to pick up all the dab stations and If you want to select a station it's simple you just select the station by name with just one click no more tuning by frequency. My only quirk with it is the fact it's mains operated with no battery function and has no fm backup but alltogether this is a great radio and if you pair it up with the xt1 additional speacker to give you stereo sound instead of the mono speaker supplied you will be greatly impressed by the sound it can produce. Do this and the pure evoke 1xt will be your radio for life.

This is my second Evoke 1 and the XT version is not a major upgrade, but a worthwhile one all the same.

A friend complained that £100 was a bit much to spend on a radio, but with this it's an absolute bargain, especially when compared with the analogue Roberts retro-style radios which cost as much but offer nowhere near as much.

The XT looks very much like it's predecessor, but losing the square corners gives it a classier feel. The white-on-blue LCD display is also an improvement and there are a couple of timer/alarm features which are a welcome addition.

But the real reason to love this radio is the sound. There's no tone control, but I've never once wanted one. The sound quality from the single speaker is tremendous, with plenty of bass but well balanced as well. And even better, it sounds fabulous through a hi-fi via the 3.5 mm stereo line out jack.

All those extra stations (you'll never want to listen to 5 Live on AM again), great sound quality, classy looks and plenty of features to mess with should the fancy take you - this is an absolute bargain at £100.

After much thought and review of models I got myself the Evoke xT. It is excellent doddle to set up and loads of clear channels. I can now hear 5live in the evening!

Price wise - Amazon are normally very competitive but this can be found cheaper elsewhere (I found it £20 cheaper in a high street chain shop!)

Certainly worth getting if you want clear radio.
