5.0 out of 5 stars Radio has evolved, 27 Sep 2004
By R G GLOVER (LINCOLN, Lincolnshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pure - The Bug DAB Digital Radio with Pause and Rewind - Graphite (Electronics)
As a radio 4 & 7 fan, I like to record radio shows and the bug makes that pleasant and easy. You can set timers for several different shows and it records perfectly to an SDram card, albeit in MP2 format. It does give me 8 hours record time from a 512kb sd card which cost £51

The sound quality is superb, and the alarm systems are the best I have had. This is because you can go to sleep to one channel and set another to wake up to. Both can have volume set individually.

Finally, they have just updated the firmware to 1.1 which allows it to function as an excellent MP3 player with fast foward and rewine - the update routine was faultless.

Highly recommended - and did I mention it could pause and rewind live radio?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great radio, 20 Jan 2005
By David Morris "Self-confessed techie" (Sheffield, UK) - See all my reviews

Mine came as a (requested) Xmas present to replace an aging bedside clock/radio. It does the job admirably. I updated the firmware to 1.2 which puts on another few (useful) shortcuts on the screen when in standby, e.g. 30 minutes sleep. If yours comes with v1.0 firmware, you may find (as I did) that dates in December display the month as '00' instead of '12'. You'll need a USB cable and a Windows PC to upgrade.

Settings are maintained across a power-fail, so if you want to move it around the house, it won't lose your alarms or presets.

The only drawback is that the display, even on dim is quite bright and illuminates the bedroom at night, much to the dismay of the missus. Because of this, Bug has to hide his glory under a tea towel :-(

Don't let that put you off though. It's a great radio with loads of features and the sound is fantastic. It's sat on my desk as I write this review, winking at me. Hmmmmm. Perhaps it's not a 'he' after all :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars DAB doesn't get much better!!!!!, 27 Dec 2004
By Matthew Johnson (Prestwich, Manchester) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pure - The Bug DAB Digital Radio with Pause and Rewind - Graphite (Electronics)
If your going to buy a DAB radio this is the only one. I have been looking into DAB radio's and after xmas I was planning on getting a cheap one. However my girlfriend beat me to it and bought me one for christmas. "The Bug" is not only a cool design that wouldn't look out of place in any flash pad. It easy to use;Rewinds that track you just can't get enough of, Fast forwards and records once you have bought a SD card. The one I've bought was 20pounds and will hold about 2 hours of music.

Use your Mp3 as a paper weight, your CD's as coasters and smash up your hifi the BUG is here.
