Shoot more pictures on holiday where downloading may be impractical. (If your memory card becomes full on holiday, you cannot re-use the card without downloading the current images first).
Capture more hi-resolution images. (Taking pictures on the highest setting will give you the option for larger prints compared to the normal or basic setting).
Take more multiple shots and select the best ones when practical. (It can sometimes be difficult and time consuming to delete unwanted shots from your camera on the move).

MLC SD (Multi-Level Cell) cards can hold two bits of data per cell. Therefore they have a lower production cost. MLC cards have been optimised for use in Digital Cameras.
So if you intend using the card mostly in a Digital Camera then a MLC is okay (for high-usage/movie recording in a digital camera a standard SD card is recommended).
If you intend to use the card in PDA etc or will be using the card in various devices a standard SD card will be more suitable.
