Product Description

CD Description

The follow up to 2002's 'Drunk Enough To Dance' sees the power-pop-punk quartet keeping to form with another album of sugar coated anthems. With no radical changes on this effort the band pay homage to girls, parties, and their all encompassing influence of the 1980's with references to hair metal and 80's movies throughout. This time round the band have anall-star cast of collaborators including members of Fastball, Nerf Herder and Sugar Ray. The album was produced by Butch Walker (Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hangover Record We All Deserve To Get, 23 Oct 2004
By Chris C "manxdude87" (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
In 2002, like it or not, Jaret Reddick had penned one of that year's popular summer anthems (Girl All The Bad Guys Want), their album Drunk Enough To Dance was a great success and Grammy nominations were given to Bowling For Soup.

In the notes, Jaret tells everyone that he hopes the new album brightens up your day and many days to come. If anyone had heard the new single 1985, then this album will make everyone raise a smile or have a chuckle. The opening song Almost has a very Simple Plan type riff at the start but its so hooky you know this is not Simple Plan.

The lyrics here are also very funny, Reddick knows how to write songs that can be related to yet he can poke fun at them, like Ohio which is about wanting a girl to stay in the Lonestar State with the line (The mexican food sucks north of here anyway) or turning a broken down relationship into a boxing match (Down For The Count) or listing all the bad things that happen to you as a kid on the bonus track Somebody Get My Mum.

The music as well is really great, lyrics aside, Bowling For Soup know how to rock, couple of acoustics pop up on My Hometown and Friends O' Mine, while the pogo bounce guitars on Shut Up And Smile sound great when singing "all we need is love and beer".

The remaining tracks are a jam in a studio using the Ohio tune with hilarious results and not forgeting the new version of Belgium. Surely this album has enough on it?! Hell yeah it does and buy it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite album!, 19 May 2005
By A. Boylett "andyboylett" (London UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a great, great album, full of killer hooks, witty intelligent lyrics, lush harmonies and rocking tunes. I've had this record now since it came out in 2004 and it's been in my incar CD player permanently since then. This is a long album too and most records of this size are packed with second rate filler songs. Well not here, I can tell you! Each song is as good as the last and all bear repeated listening. I just NEVER get bored of these songs! In fact this is now officially my new favorite album of all time.

I just get the terrible feeleing that B4S are destined to be too intelligent and quirky for 'the kids' to appreciate and will probably never have the chance to reach an audience that will appreciate how good they are and will end up only being loved by the lucky few, like other great bands like Jellyfish and Enuff Znuff.

I dearly hope I'm wrong! Roll on the next album and their next UK tour. I can't wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars simply the best album ever recorded, 6 Feb 2006
By A Customer
this is bowling for soup latest and greatest album, chances are you've heard at least one of their songs, ie 'girl all the bad guys want' or 'emily' if you enjoyed either of them then you will simply LOVE this album, singles 'almost' and '1985' are catchier than a cold an will get lodged in your head an you will be singing them for days.

Its a long album, but BFS dont disappoint in any songs whatsoever, from the slow ballad-type songs like 'A-hole' to the all out power pop punkexplosion of 'Ohio (come back to texas)'

this album is garuanteed to put a smile on any face. with its combination of great songwriting and catchy tunes that could make even a statue dance, BUY THIS ALBUM, you WILL NOT regret it
