Product Description

CD Description
'Astronaut' is the first album in from the original Duran Duran line up since the release of 1983's 'Seven And The Ragged Tiger'. This album returns to the catchy electro-funk of their eighties releases and features the track '(Reach Up For The) Sunrise', the first single to be taken from the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Sexy Sounds, 28 Oct 2004
This album just gets better and better each time you play it. And god these boys know how to write a tune you can't get out of your head. Duran Duran mean business with this totally "NOW" album. Every track is a winner but my absolute favourite is "Taste the Summer" I just love this. Other stand out tracks for me are: Bedroom Toys, Want you More, Astronaut, Nice, Still Breathing ..... What Happens Tomorrow, Sunrise; in fact I could go on and list the whole album as every track is great.

I would definitely pay more for the Bonus CD + DVD as it comes with great packaging and gives a selection of live tracks from the tour with some back stage footage. (It's great but it still can't really capture just how AMAZING it was on the night and the electric atmosphere!!!)

I really, really recommend you buy this album. For anyone who wasn't there the first time round it's a great introduction to a truly great band and for original fans it is of course a MUST!!! (You won't be disappointed).

5.0 out of 5 stars Still in my CD changer!, 19 Jan 2006
By ChezzyD "chezzyd" (Swindon, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
I wrote a review of this album a while ago - just thought I would add another one to say that this album has grown on me even more, to the point where it is the only one in the cd changer that has not been removed! I have also created a couple of 'converts' (as they have to listen to it when I drive) ;-) I felt bad that in my original review I did not mention the wonderful 'One Of These Days' which is now my favourite track alongside 'Astronaut'. Why 'Astronaut' wasn't a single I have no idea. I think it is an incredible song and screams to have a great video made for it. What the hell happened?! 'Point Of No Return', 'Still Breathing', 'Nice' and 'Want You More' could all have been singles and even the cooky 'Bedroom Toys' has grown on me (I think I now get the 'tongue-in-cheekness' of it and there are some great lyrics in there!). Probably the only tracks I'd be likely to skip over now are 'Chains', 'What's Going To Happen Tomorrow' and occasionally 'Taste The Summer' which although catchy still makes me cringe a bit when Simon sings 'cool haze is reflected off your thighs' (I may think he is a sex god - but come on the guy is nearly 50, it's just not right!). I am very surprised I did not see at least one of their tracks hitting the dance floors this summer, maybe they will sometime? Something like 'Nice' could be very easily sampled. I think the only reason this album hasn't done better is the ongoing elitist snobbery of the music press who have always had it in for Duran (they were probably too good-looking and too successful). Shame that people miss out on what is really good pop music because of such prejudice.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic surprise, 29 Jun 2005
By A Customer
This is a great collection of songs from a group which has had its musical ups and downs - by the latter some of the tracks on medazzaland are good examples - i have thought that they had gone off the boil since big thing but this album is incredible - i really didnt want to get this album even after seeing them live at the NEC recently but dont have preconceptions -its so good to have them back!!
