This is one of the best stand-up DVDs I've ever seen - Ross Noble is one of the best comedians working today, and this DVD really catches him in full flight. The first disc contains an extended version of the Unrealtime show that was on BBC2 earlier this year - the show itself is fantastic, and the added footage to this version makes it even better. As always, Ross seems to take up half the show with simple observations about his audience and interactions with them - only towards the end does he get to his prepared material, and even then, it has a wonderfully random quality. The second disc is an outdoor show from last summer, and is just as good if not better as the first disc - as always, he spends a lot of the show talking to his audience, and the final ten minutes of this show is some of the best comedy I've ever seen (Ross is right - I truly do believe that the Bible WOULD be a better story if Jesus had an exploding face). Ross will sometimes venture into what might be controversial territory, but unlike some comedians, he never goes too far, and is likeable enough that it doesn't matter. The special features on this DVD are generally excellent. Ross provides audio commentaries for both shows, and although they're not always the most informative in the world, this is clearly intentional, and there are some comedy gems to be found, such as the time Ross's mobile phone goes off during the commentary, and on the other end is none other than Danny Wallace - who Ross puts on speakerphone to talk to us. The trivia facts are funny, there's a preview for his next DVD, and a good mini-documentary following Ross on tour. Overall, this is a fantastic package, and I can hardly wait for his next DVD.
