Digital Image Library 10 offers even more ways to organise and share images and superior archival technology to protect photos for years to come.New! Flags mark photos for a variety of actions. Digital Image Library 10 includes four predefined flags (For Review, Needs Touchup, To Share and To Print) and two miscellaneous flags. The title and icon of all six flags can be customised.
New! Photo Story 2.0 adds more functionality and customisation options to the popular features of last year's Photo Story Lite. Along with adding narration and music, consumers can now customise pan and zoom effects and save Photo Story projects for access and editing later. New! Colour Auto Fix analyzes and automatically corrects the colour balance in the image by changing the light source, colour temperature and colour channel balance.
New! Exposure Auto Fix automatically adjusts the overall brightness and contrast in an image.
New! Camera Phone Auto Fix automatically improves images taken on mobile phone cameras so they look great on other devices.
Levels Auto Fix sets the optimum balance in each of the picture's three color channels.
Contrast Auto Fix improves contrast by setting the white and black dots in the picture.
New! Colour and Saturation toolset provides unprecedented control over colour correction by adding the ability to balance colour features over various tonal ranges. The tool set houses all colour correction features in one task pane, including Colour Auto Fix and adjustable sliders for source lighting, saturation and colour balance. The interactive user interface allows consumers to see changes in the image as they go.
New! Exposure and Lighting toolset contains all exposure and lighting correction tools in a single location, giving consumers total control over photo exposure. Consumers can access exposure and contrast auto fixes, add flash, reduce backlighting and adjust the shadows, midtones and highlights of any photo.
New! Levels and Curves provides the highest level of exposure and colour control, by allowing consumers to manipulate the image curve over five channels: luminosity, red, green, blue and saturation. Accessed from either of the two toolsets, the Levels and Curves functionality will be easy for advanced photographers to use right away, but even intermediate users will benefit from this interactive and educational tool.
New! Selection Brush includes two major improvements. Now consumers can paint in the selection area with different brush sizes, making it easy to fine-tune selections. Consumers also can set the transparency of their selection, allowing them to make partial changes to selected areas of an image.
New! Selection Mask improves the visibility of the area selected for editing. The Selection Mask provides the option of placing a translucent, coloured layer over the selected area, or over the area not selected.
New! Noise Reduction helps fix photos by reducing luminant and chromatic noise without harming detail in images.Comparable filters for some of the highest-end imaging applications can cost upward of $100 as add-ons.
New! Unique Panoramic Stitching enables consumers to stitch together multiple images to create just one.
New! Print Sharpening optimises image quality for printing. Often, what looks good on a screen may turn out slightly blurred or out of focus when printed. By sharpening an image prior to printing, consumers can define the edges and get a much crisper print as a result. The sharpening is not applied to the original file, so Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 enables better print quality without modifying and potentially sacrificing the screen quality of the original image.
Improved! Sharpening improvements sharpen image contrast without affecting the colour. The sharpening algorithm in Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 only operates on the luminosity channel, so consumers get sharp images without serious colour changes, coloured halos or increased colour noise.
Improved! Mini Lab provides a quick and easy way to apply common effects to many files at once. The Mini Lab includes the new Auto Fixes, the ability to resize a batch of photos and a streamlined user interface. To help identify the images that have been edited, Mini Lab will mark them with the word Modified underneath the file name.
