4.0 out of 5 stars One Game To Rule Them All, 11 Aug 2005
LOTR:The Third Age is one of the few strategy games for the GBA and in my opinion it is very repetative, but surprisingly addictive. I like the way you can choose whether you want to be good or evil and you can choose who you want fighting for you. This game brings the whole Trilogy into one and has plenty of levels to keep you entertained for hours. A must buy, especially for hardcore Tolkien fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Fire Emblem, 11 Nov 2004
By A Customer
I've been generous and given the game 4 stars because there aren't that many strategy games for the GBA. The game is similar to Fire Emblem but certainly not as good. On a scale of 1-10, Fire Emblem would be 10 and The Third Age a 7.5.

The most annoying thing about this game is what they call command points or the inability to move all of your troops in any one turn. Unlike Fire Emblem where everyone gets to move if you want them to, in this game some troops just get cut down because you don't have enough command points to get them out of harms way.

Another down side, is the fact that when it's the ennemies turn to attack you don't fight back (same applies when you're attacking). In Fire Emblem if you're attacked at least you respond whereas in this game you just take it on the chin. And as I said above if you don't have enough command points you end up getting slaughtered.

To conclude the game is worth buying, since Nintendo don't have any plans at the moment to release Fire Emblem 2 in the UK. So it's a question of wait for Fire Emblem on the Gamecube buy the japanese Fire Emblem 2 or make do with the Third Age.
