Product Description

Product Description

In Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events, players switch between the three orphans; Violet the inventor, Klaus the brave intellect and Sunny, the biting baby and master each one's strengths to keep them one step ahead of Count Olaf, who will stop at nothing to get his greedy hands on their family fortune. Adventures take them through such film locations as the Count's mysterious mansion, Uncle Monty's reptile room and Aunt Josephine's rickety house hanging over the dark waters of Lake Lachrymose, as well as many other environments exclusive to the game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best game ever but, 6 Mar 2005
I got this game just because I had nothing else and I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't thrilled either. It was light hearted and quite entertaining but not quite there either. The puzzles were not that hard but did need a bit of thinking about. Lookswise it was ok and some of the narration etc was amusing. I'd say try it if you can't find anything else but really must play your console. It's not that bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars The same as the film, 13 April 2007
Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This game is quite good fun. I only got about two thirds of the way through before getting well and truly stuck and unable to continue which is rather annoying. Before that point, I was really enjoying the game. It takes the shape of the film rather than the books and follows the film quite literally throwing in puzzles here and there. There is enough going on to keep you occupied and the puzzles change and are quite challenging, hard enough that you have to have several attempts but not so easy that you sail through. I like the fact that the gameplay changes rapidly between slow thought out puzzles and rapid instant action games. The interludes with the baby's 2D platform makes a nice change as well with the rest of the game in 3D. The cut scenes can be a bit annoying but help progress the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising, 15 April 2009

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I should know better,I'm 35,but I really liked the film,I've not read the books,Jim Carrey's Count Olaf was one of the most O.T.T characters's I've seen in a while.
I normally don't go anywhere near platform games, let alone film tie-ins,but as this was cheap I thought it should be worth a few hours entertainment, what can I say?,it's actually quite tricky in places but Tim curry as the narrator/Snicket (Jude Law in the film)is as droll as can be and the 'scraperboard' illustrations between levels are excellent,I'm an illustrator and notice these things!
The graphics are okay, the environments a little bland but the characters are spot on,controls are good for a platform game and so far no section outstays it's welcome,a surprise or should that be 'surpreeze'?
