I thoroughly enjoyed Dear Frankie as a film and the soundtrack matches it well in tone. There is nothing overly sentimental here but it is all easy on the ears and the nerves. I especially like the opening title piano solo, which is repeated as the main theme throughout the film. There are a couple of songs with vocals, which add a bit of variety to the mainly instrumental music. The film is never syrupy or overly sweet and the acting is first rate by everybody. I especially like Sharon Small's sparkly and warm character and Frankie himself, just a little bit mischievous but hiding a wisdom beyond his tender years. The composer has done a great job of capturing this gem of a film in his score.
