An Excellent Album!, 5 Jan 2006
By A Customer
This is the debut album from German pop/rock group Juli. It contains a mix of styles, and the album's best song is the first single released and their biggest hit, "Perfekte Welle". "Geile Zeit", the second release, is different in style, but equally as good. The other singles that were released from the album, "Regen und Meer" and "Warum", are excellent. "Regen und Meer" is soft and slow, while "Warum" opens the album with an explosive rock bang, ending suddenly, which takes the listener into "Sterne", an above-average light rock track. "Tage wie dieser" does drag a little in my opinion, but the fast pace and excellent music of "Traenenschwer" wakes me up! Unfortunately, I cannot understand why "November" was released, as it is a little tedious, but it is followed by "Anders", which is a short, enjoyable rock track that sticks in your head. "Kurz vor der Sonne" is a real summer song (hence the title!) and a little different -especially the reggae part, which contains a little english! "Ich verschwinde" is a top ballad, and I think the album lets itself down a little with "Wenn du Lachst", which seems to go on forever, and is possibly a filler. Like the other reviewer, I can hardly speak German at all, but don't let this put you off, as the lyrics are simple, and the music enjoyable. You can see why the album reached #2 in the German and Austrian charts. In all, an excellent debut album!

Well worth the money!, 30 Sep 2005

This is an excellent album and the two multimedia tracks at the end are an added bonus! Almost every song is great. Highlights are "Perfekte Welle", "Geile Zeit", "Anders", and "Regen und Meer". "Ich Verschwinde" gets better with every listen, too. I can't speak German that well and I still think this is a really good buy.

Modern German music is great!!!!, 25 May 2005
Having been a fan of German band Silbermond for sometime I had considered giving Juli a listen but it has taken me sometime to get round to it.....and now I realise i have been missing out on a excellent band.Like Silbermond they sing in German and are fronted by a female vocalist with male musicians. However Juli sound more grown up and sound more contemplative on life. There are good rocking songs on here such as opening track "Warum" and the single "Perfekte Welle" which are immensley enjoyable to listen to. "November" is an example of a slower Juli song. All of them are infused with a rock/pop sound akin to some of the British bands like Snow Patrol (although I am not a snow patrol fan so this could be a bad comparison of style). Eva the singer has a wonderful voice and the musicianship sounds excellent. The language barrier for those who don't understand German will prove a disability to getting the feel for some of these songs. Don't let that put you off though as you will miss out on some great sounding music, and it can be fun discovering the meaning of the songs. Word of warning, watch out for the reggae sounding part in Kurz vor der sonne when some guy starts singing. In my opinion it doesn't fit very well. Anyone who is a fan of Silbermond should give them a try (and vice versa). And anyone into mainstream credible rock/pop bands should let themselves be challenged by giving Juli a try.
