Coastal are an American band, much in the same vein as Low and Galaxie 500. This, their first album, is a very slow affair and is quite beautiful at times as after repeated listens it starts to work it's way under your skin. Standout track is 'Ivy' with it's refrain of 'The stars are falling, you'd never know' capturing the mood perfectly - you get the impression that Cosatal live within their music and any notion of turning up or speeding up is not even considered. Slow paced throughout (as is the follow up 'Halfway To You'), with great male/female harmonies this is a worthy addition to any 'slowcore' fan's collection, despite falling short of the utter genius that is Low, but then again so do most other bands. Worth investigating...
