This Naxos Historical issue is a restoration from old Decca LPs in pretty good sound. We have a famous recording od Schumann's Frauenliebe und-leben to open the CD and here the sound is a bit rough, hence my 4 stars.

Then we have Brahms' "four serious songs" from the end of his life sung by the doomed Ferrier; this is quite sad to listen to. After a few other Brahms songs, we arrive at the Alto Rhapsody, a piece I love. This was recorded in December 1947 in what was a tough time in post-WW2 Britain. This is very moving, although a version with modern sound (try Sinopoli on DG) should be tried first.
