    5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, 22 Nov 2004
By John M. Brooks (Wiltshire) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
Before I start I must say that my experiance is with a Kodak 2.2 mp Camera purchased 2 years ago at around £250. complete with a easy dock etc. Although on the computer the pictures were fabulous, when I printed them they were OK but not spectacular. I was happy never the less.
Last week a friend showed me his Camera - a Z1. with samples of his pictures printed pictures.I realised I had accepted 2nd best.I knew that I had to upgrade sometime but seeing his pictures galvanised me into action.
A visit to a famous retailer, reading magazine reviews all led me to belive that the Z3, the latest incarnation of the Z1, was the thing to buy.
It arrived within 48 hrs of ordering from Amazon (cheaper elswhere by £6, but I trust Amazon)
I have played with it for 4 days now.
I am in heaven! I am motivated to become a better photographer than I now am. The quality of the features are, to me, unbelivable. I can print A4 blow ups with no deteriation in quality. The zoom and the speed at which the camera performs is awsome. £269. the bargain of the year. My dog, wife and kids are already in frames in the living room. This machine grabs you like that.
I have not yet tried the movie feature ( I already own a good Video camera).
I can only say I would recomend this piece of kit, it will have you trying to be better than whatever you were before

5.0 out of 5 stars Just toooo good... Exceeded expectations, 11 Nov 2004
By Ashutosh A. Joshi (New York, USA) - See all my reviews

In a nutshell, this is one awesome camera... With a 12X optical zoom and antisake stabilising feature, you couldn't ask more for your cash. Since you may have read about other features of this camera elsewhere, I'll mention one which I don't find mentioned even in the manual and was a pleasant surprise.

If you take a photo of a very far off object using full 48X zoom (i.e including the full digital zoom), you'll normally see a slight blurring of the object due to digital interploation. However try this...when you view this photograph in the preview mode, press the zoom lever and magnify the image further to 1.2X. Amazingly, the blurred photo often becomes much sharper almost as if it was taken with a 48X optical zoom. I dunno how this happens and why Minolta has not mentioned this useful feature anywhere in their manual.

The anti shake is great and allows you to make real use of the 12X-48X range without a tripod. If at all I have to pick a slight negative, its about the auto focus capability in low light but even that is manageable using some patience or by using the manual focus mode.

All in all, one of my best buys...If you are searching for a feature laden camera at affordable price, go for this nowww....

    5.0 out of 5 stars A great little camera, 8 Sep 2004
    By A Customer
The Konica Minolta Z3 is one of the most responsive cameras I've ever had, and what can I say about the 12x zoom lens but wow.

The Z3 focuses quickly and there is hardly any shutter lag as far as I can tell. Picture quality is excellent, and the antishake function has enabled me to take photos in low light situations where other cameras have struggled. keeping the subject in focus and a sharp picture. It certainly has one of the best macro modes I've ever seen. The super macro mode focuses down to 1cm.

It is a great camera with full creative control options, the LCD could be a bit bigger though, but it is a good quality LCD.
