Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
While it's true that the self-titled debut from Kasabian doesn't sound particularly original, that's hardly the point. They can be forgiven because they do it so well. Their influences are obvious throughout Kasabian: "Processed Beats" is the Stone Roses song that never was, while "Reason is Treason" could have driven straight off of Primal Scream's Vanishing Point. Self-professed fans of the afore-mentioned bands, as well as DJ Shadow and Neu!, Kasabian are clearly not afraid of a little electronic knob-twiddling. The result is an album that harkens back to the baggy days of the late 1980s and early 90s, seamlessly switching between bass-heavy anthems ("Club Foot") and blissed-out tracks ("I.D."). And if they occasionally sound a bit like EMF, well, that's no bad thing--it's just proof that they know a thing or two about writing a catchy tune. Kasabian are by no means the first band to merge indie rock with dance floor beats, but they are easily one of the best. --Robert Burrow

Album Description
Honest and real, arrogant and naïve, Kasabian are four lads making music with total disregard for anything else going on and are sure to be the next big thing. Their contemporaries in attitude if not musical style are bands like The Coral and SFA. And in singer Tom and songwriter Serge, Kasabian have not one but two charismatic front men. This, their debut album features the hits "Club Foot" and "L.S.F (Lost Souls Forever)", plus new versions of the limited releases "Processed Beats" and "Reason Is Treason". Produced by Kasabian, mixed by Jim Abiss (The Music, Unkle, DJ Shadow).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing out of Leicester since Gary Linekar, 6 Sep 2004
I can't say I'd heard about Kasabian until the other day and it got album of the week in a certain daily. I only bought it as it said it was a like the Rolling Stones and Happy Mondays put together. Well, into that musical mixing bowl I would also add a bit of the Stone Roses, Primal Scream and just a touch of Hawkwind's spacey ambience in some of the songs to finish it off. I put the album on not knowing what to expect but was completely immersed within minutes. Angry and energetic, it might give some of the bland bands out there a kick up the proverbial. Considering its a debut album its bloomin' excellent. If you get the cd/dvd album you even get some of the videos to watch to boot. Easily one of the best albums I've heard for a bit and tomorrow I won't hesitate to tell people at work to go out and get it. Just hope they put a few more gigs on now that the albums out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best 'Indie' Album out this Year, 25 Sep 2004
Caught these guys at V and wasn't that impressed. Since then I got the album and have been very surprised. Catchy tunes with a slightly different sound -have heard them called the new Oasis but would compare them more to the Mondays or Ian Brown (with better vocals).
Damn good album that gets better with each listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars FUTURE FACING ROCK & ROLL!!, 11 Sep 2004
It's not for me to say that this is the greatest & most important album for a long, long time. I don't need to. You only need to syringe your ears clean of the viscous muck that British 'guitar' music has inflicted on us in recent years. Simply play loud, play long & play again and everything should be okay. Okay!
Taking off where Primal Scream's 'Vanishing Point' finished this record is a classic, if not a cultural milestone. It's the point at which The Stone Roses' groove meets The Scream's cyberpunk-dub-psychedelia then hooks into the Beta Band's looping electrofolk finally shaking a little krautrock on top. All this wrapped in the effortless gang cool manifesto of early Oasis and you have THE band for the decade.
Only problem is. Whenever a band becomes 'THE band' they tend to fall from grace in a major way, so do me a favour. Buy this album & love it to death but er .......... don't tell your mates. Let's keep it a secret huh!
