3.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Idea, 17 Jun 2005
By A Customer
The concept of Freeze Frame is simple but interesting. Lee Evans was accused but acquitted 10 years previously of a vicious murder. He claims he is innocent and records every minute of his life and archives the footage in case he is accused of another crime and so needs an alibi. His life is thrown into termoil when his fear is realised but the tape he needs is missing.

The way the movie is filmed is very nice - very british and has a nice realistic feel. The characters are maybe a little clichéd but for the most part believable and the actors do what's required of them. Before watching you know that Lee Evans is either going to be horribly mis-cast or an inspired choice for the role. As it turns out - it's the latter. With a shaved head and face he also really looks the part.

On the whole I enjoyed this movie but felt that torwards the end it tripped itself up on it's own twists - maybe trying to be a little too clever.

Not a bad film but not a great one either. Watch it if you get the chance but don't pay too much for the pleasure.

4.0 out of 5 stars What happens when paranoia takes over, 30 April 2005
By D. L. Morfett "muffet" (Dunstable, Bedfordshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Being a huge fan of Lee Evans, I knew for a while that he was bringing this film out, and that it was not going to be comedy based! This film took me completely be suprise.
The main character (Lee Evans) was accused of murdering a mother and twin daughters years ago. The trial was scrapped, but ever since, Sean Veil (Evans) video tapes his every move. He home is fitted with cameras so that no corner is not seen, and if he ventures out, he has a "self-cam" so that all his movements, wherever he is,are caught on tape. He shaves his head, so his image will stick in peoples mind. Everything he can think of to prove his innocence if ever he was accused of a crime again.
However, when there is another murder, that tapes that would prove his innocence go missing. So he has to go on the run, and find other ways of proving his innocence. A reporter, who seems to be the only person to believe him, accompanies him, providing an interesting twist near the end.
The ending is tense as the plot twists in many directions, trying to find out who really did murder that family many years ago, and how it is liked to the recent murder. Lee Evans give a truly stunning performance, as a completely paranoid prisoner of his past. This film shows that Lee Evans is more than the brilliant comedian he is. The ending has so many twists, that at times it can be hard to keep up, but it doesnt take anything away from the film
This film goes to show what our society could turn us all into. A scary thought.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth a viewing, 9 Jul 2006

I thought this was a good film, although I agree that it is a slow starter. I think it is worth viewing for Evans performance alone. We are so used to his self proclaimed 'monkey man' antics and this is such a departure from that 'role' for him. It has an OK ending and the premise is quite good although not brilliantly executed. I'd say it's worth a viewing and being your own judge.
