4.0 out of 5 stars Out of the two brothers Rich's solo effort is the best!, 12 Feb 2005
By Mr. J. P. M. Wright "ramblebreaker" (Chippenham) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After the end of the Black crowes fans like me were very dispointed.
For me The black crowes were the greatest laid back, experiemental blues rock band ever. But shortly after there demise Chris Robinson (the singer of the BC) came out with an album New earth Mud, and frankly it was slow, boring and uninteresting. It had no 'gems' to speak of and was, for me a real disspointment.
But now enter Rich Robinson, after forming another band after the black crowes and then losing that band the last thing i expected was a solo album, but here it is and what a solo album.
It has all the crunchy riffs, laid back crowes essence, an essence which is about genuine creativity whilst staying true to their roots, therefore still sounding fresh despite the similarities. Rich's voice is very different from his brothers and works, but it is unspectacular, but then Chris has one of the best voices in the business. The guitar playing is at it's best but the general sound loses something from what the crowes could do.

Prehaps im drawing on to much comparison, but then it's hard not to. The album unfournately has been overlooked by the general public which is a shame because it is a fine album. The reason why ive given it only 4 stars is well at the end of the day it's no Shake your money maker, Musical companion or Amorica but is far better than Chrises efforts and even late crowes effeorts. And i cant wait to see what he does next.

If youve never heard any of chris before, buy the early crowes stuff first, if your a fan, dont be hesitant this is Rich at his most creative.

5.0 out of 5 stars quality rock n roll, 26 Nov 2004
fantastic stuff....ok its not full of deep and meaningful lyrics, thats not what this album is about, this album is about turning it up loud and havin a bit of a boogie...this album is much better than his brothers two offerings, rich robinson seems to be having fun wheras his brother (chris) seems to be going through some kind of spiritual loved up phase..anyway if you like your loud guitars and rocked out tunes buy it..if youre after meaningful deep stuff just type genesis in the search engine

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Crowes Magic !!!!, 15 Oct 2004
This is fantastic. It captures the laid back, stoned rock feel
of all previous Black Crowes albums. Rich's voice suits the music
brilliantly too. I highly recommend this to any rock fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rich Robinson Rocks!
Unfortunately, although he rocks, he can't sing. And that ruins what has the potential to be a classic rock album. Read more
