1.0 out of 5 stars Not Really Benny Goodman, 9 Dec 2009
By Mr. M. W. Steadman (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The title of this DVD is Swing Era:Benny Goodman and on ordering it I expected to see and hear Benny playing a variety of numbers from the swing era. I was very disapointed, although the DVD lasts 77 minutes there was less than six of them devoted to Benny's music and the rest of the time was taken up by a mixture of Artie Shaw, very old Jimmy Dorsey recordings,Hoagy Carmichael and Jack Teagarden material. I am amazed that they even mentioned Benny Goodman in the title as all the other bands and artistes were featured in much greater depth giving them the chance to play many more numbers, most of which are available to view on U Tube anyway.

I would not recommend this DVD to anyone looking for Goodman material and I personally am very tempted to put it in the dusbin!!
