5.0 out of 5 stars Navman Pin, 19 Sep 2004
    By A Customer
I bought this instead of the TomTom Go purely as it gave me additional PDA functionality and also it comes with detailed Europe maps rather than main roads. All in all its a great device. Its pretty simple to use and set up (I managed) and comes complete with all you need (although buying a 512 SD card was pretty much required. Whilst the suction mount and charger bundled were ok, I upgraded to a Brodit powered mouny and vent mount for my car and its made the Navman incredibly simple to use.

There are a couple of glitches in the map data (where roads have changed since the mapping data was set) but really you only notice this when you know shortcuts yourself.

One major advantage to me of portable sat nav's is you can find the destination in the comfort of your own home and using multimap or streetmap to find harder to locate places, save them as a favorite and use the next day.

The PDA is good (does all the things I need it to do) and have had no syncing problems at all (had the device for 3 months).

5.0 out of 5 stars Navman Pin, 4 Nov 2004

The best gadget i have ever purchased, i wouldnt be without it. Extremely precise and clear directions gets me where i am going every time, the only downside is the warm up time, it can take up to 2mins to find your initial position. Very small and compact it stores all my contacts organises my diary with windows software, plays my MP3's and even plays my videos via media player.

3.0 out of 5 stars Make sure it's what you want, 29 Sep 2005

I wanted sat nav as I drive quite a bit for work and went for this sytem as it was reasonably priced and I thought a PDA would be a useful bonus. The down side of this is that I had two lots of instructions to work out, for the PDA and the Sat Nav both of which were in tiny writing. There's no indication which you should do first and they both tell you that you need to load the suplied software, although it isn't the case as it's pre-loaded. To operate the PDA you need to synchronise it with your PC to copy information across although this comes up with an error message when I've tried which means I can't update the Sat Nav information either. The mains charger is also confusing as it doesn't fit into the PDA. It took me a while to work out that instead it fits into the lead used to transfer info from the computer which is then plugged into the PDA. I've found entering the destination quite slow as you have to do it via a stylus and the touch screen. The problem seems to be that it is referring to its address database as you type and sometimes your letter doesn't appear or appears twice, which confuses it. On the plus side however when it's actually doing its job it's great. The instruction are clear, the maps are easy to follow and it corrects well if you miss a turn. As a sat nav I'd give it 5, as a PDA I'd give it 1.
