Music, voice and great lyrics!, 17 Dec 2004
With the follow-up to her self-titled English album which was arguably one of the best adult contemporary collections of the past 10 years, Lara offers a change of style in sounds and musical arrangements. The first single, "The Last Goodbye", is a very good pop ballad with a catchy chorus and represents quite well the general feel of the album. Many up-tempo pop songs are included here, starting with the opening "No Big Deal" and culminating with the powerful "Conquered", one of the best cuts of the album. "I Guess I Loved You" is the inevitable Barbra Streisand-like emotional ballad that showcases all of Lara's vocal range and stands out along with "Intoxicated", the other big ballad that is guaranteed to touch even the hardest of hearts. A couple of good covers are featured here, LeAnn Rimes' soulful "Review My Kisses" and Black's tender "Wonderful Life", both quite faithful to the originals and nonetheless effective. "I've Cried Enough" and "Silence" are both covers of her French repertoire from the album "Nue", and they're the prelude to "Walk Away", the closing track of the album in which a simple acoustic guitar accompanies Lara's amazing voice singing a gut-wrenching lyrics in a understated and heart-felt manner. A truly good album that will hopefully strenthen and broaden her English-speaking fan base.

a singer who is so underated in the Uk, 29 May 2004
Lara fabian is a fantastic singer. Her vocal range is exceptional and her music is outstanding. So why is she virtually unknown in the UK? Well thats a mystery only her record companies can answer. I say record companies because Polydor/Universal cover her French language recordings while Sony music release her English language recordings. Give her music a listen. Artists like Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand come to mind but Lara Fabian is unique. She sings from her heart. Her breath control give a special unique sound to the way she sings. Search out her previous albums and you wont be dissapointed. Lara Fabian has one of the rare qualities in popular music today and that is she can sing as well as writing her own songs. Of the tracks I have already heard from ths lastest album I would say it is Lara at her best. But I have seen Lara perform live in Paris, singing without accompiament and without a microphone, her voice was enough to fill a theatre and reach the hearts of the audience in a way few of todays singers can. Lara is unique, give this or any of her albums a try, and you wont regret it. This is modern popular music at is best.

A wonderful voice, 30 May 2004
Ok, let me just say this: Her voice is superb, very dramatic and emotional. She has enormous control over her instrument, and it is really showcased here (just listen to "I guess I loved you".. wow!! I love songs with modulations!).I have loved her voice since the first time I heard her, and she never disappoints me. Her vocal control and her crystal clear sound is otherworldly. Her chest voice sounds impeccable in her upper register (but she lacks the same power in her lower register, though..), and her falsetto/head voice is superb. Her classically trained voice is put to real use on this cd. I love the ballads!! "Conquered" is an up-tempo song that is really good, and she uses her voice like you wouldn't believe! "Review my kisses" is very well done, and she doesn't belt this one. Nice! The songs are a bit too "lovey-dovey" for my taste, thus only 4 stars. I always seem to prefer her French material....( But I didn't like her English version of "J'y crois encore"--> "I've cried enough". I could have done without that one..sorry!!) But this said, there are some really good summer-songs on this album ("Unbreakable" for instance...). I also enjoy "Intoxicated", especially the tranisiton form the verse to the chorus...Tasty! The song reminds of another song of hers, "Tango". In my opinion, Lara Fabian is one of a few singers who can convey this much emotion through a song. There are plenty of brilliant singers out there, but not many who sing like they mean E V E R Y word they say! Lara gives you her heart and soul, along with an astounding voice! She's got it all. Enjoy Lara, she is definitely worth it!!
