5.0 out of 5 stars I will bang it in your face, 20 July 2004
By A Customer
So a matter of four or so years after the fantastic debut bon chic bon genre we have the reurn of campag velocet with "it's beyond our control" , an album recorded and finished two years ago but due to a lack of interest from labels not issued till pointy records had the guts to sign one of the most powerfull british bands of the last decade.

As with the debut we once again have main man Pete Voss shouting words which really should be nonsence but somehow make you understand perfectly what he means.

Opening track Instinct Tension with it's powerful riff from Barneys guitar and Pete cooing like a punk pidgeon starts the album off well but it's the second track Motown Clic where we hear the grade a arroganve in the lyric "I've been around , knocked down , now I'm back again , yes I'm back again"
It's nice to hear a british band with some real confidence in themselves and with the bouncy dub sound of Who Are The Trumping men sitting nicely along with other stand out tracks such as the single Vindictive Disco with it's whistles and dance beats they are fully justified in that arrogance.

The album ends with the amzing Aint No Funky Tangerine which makes you realise just why Campag were considered to be one of the most important up and coming artists five years or so ago , here we find Pete telling us he will bang his tamborine in our face and draw blood from our skull before singing "everybody's got some love inside of them .

An album that should be at the top of everones wanted list this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars MAGNIFICENT RETURN, 16 Oct 2004

Campag Velocet. Have you actually ever heard of them?
Many haven't and that's certain although their anonymity and mystery is what adds to the appeal of this band. This record is nonchalant and defiant throughout, whilst frontman Pete Voss continues to deliver his coded lyrics.

'It's Beyond Our Control' may escape the attention of most people's lives, but this does not detract from the strength of this record. It comes as a welcome alternative to the fairly bland 'indie' we seem so content to bore ourselves with.

The message is clear, buy this record, you won't be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Was it worth the wait?, 1 Sep 2004
By A Customer
Quite honestly, no. If you imagine a cross between Flowered Up (without the cockney sentiment) and EMF with a Shamenesque backbeat then this is for you. Best off with a Stereo MC's collection they do it much better.
