Autour de la lune was an original broadcast on radio france,based on jules vernes story,from the earth to the moon.
Geir had access to radio frances early 1960s recordings and put his trademark sound to it.
Its a minimal recording and the first track lasts 21 minutes or so,following on from his last album shenzou so its in the same vein, also reminded me of thomas koners,bass works like teimo/permafrost.
I guess some will find it a bit heavy going tuneless and totally void, so it makes for great late night listening while working on my powerbook, if not while falling asleep!
geir should be releasing another cd this autumn following on from his substrata/cirque cds, working title "karma repair kit" so watch out for that one!

I think that this album is fantastic, as ggod as if not better than Substrata.
I would have rated 5stars but for the fact that this is only an amazing album if you have superb speakers and a sub woofer to boot. 1/2 the songs will not really register if you do not have 1. but if you do........ oh man, great stuff, minimalist to the extreme. but music is not just about notes, it is about the space around the notes, which this has plenty of. lose yourself in the music and find yourself floating through the great void of space.

... like I did. The sounds are so wierd and mechanical that I kept switching off the music thinking the noise was coming from my car!

This is not music in the normal sense of the word. I am known as "Wierd music boy" to friends. But this was almost too wierd for me. Toatally void of anything except nothing (if you get my drift). Kind of reminded me of the sounds you would expect coming from the air recycling system on a space station. (Think 2001: a space Oddessy without ANY dialogue or music)

I am a big fan of Biosphere, but this and Shenzhou were a bit too lifeless for my taste.

Still worth sampling though for the privilege of owning the most wierd album you are ever likely too.
