The move from a traditional, cathode ray tube monitor to a flat LCD screen is not one which should intimidate or embarass people. There is a considerable saving in space: you no longer have to share your desk with something the size of a microwave oven; instead, it's like having a photo of a loved one for company ... only with sounds and moving pictures. There are considerable advantages, even if you don't feel space is at a premium. Flat screens are here to stay: within minutes of using one, you'll settle for nothing else.The Video Seven offers excellent value for money. It's easy to install - a matter of a few minutes, though note, the cabling from computer to the back of the screen is a bit fiddly, so take your time with that. There are three cables to connect up - power (via a small DC transformer), computer link, and audio. All cables are provided. Picture is bright, colour resolution dense, contrast high. Don't forget to reset the picture to 1280x1024 pixels (if you're using Windows, go to Control Panel, Appearance, Display, Settngs, Screen Resolution). The Video Seven has inbuilt speakers, again reducing the clutter on your desktop. Volume and sound quality is acceptable, but you wouldn't want this to play quality sounds - say if you were a discerning classical music fan. However, for everyday computing, games, radio reception, etc., the audio quality is fine. If you want higher quality audio, don't connect the cable - leave your existing speakers plugged in to the computer. Instruction booklet is oversimple and almost pigeon English, but the set-up process is pretty much self-explanatory. Light weight, small desktop profile, convenient assembly, good picture. The Video Seven is a decidely user friendly piece of kit and I wish I'd moved into the realm of flat screens years ago. Excellent value, complete with 3-year warranty and no one trying to sell you extra!
