Viewtiful Joe follows the escapades of Joe after the first game when he defeated Captain Blue. However, now there are space aliens stealing rainbow oscars in order to control the world-cue Joe's return to the big screen to save the world from impending doom.

Following the same graphical presentation of the first game, the game is set in 2D, but this isn't a bad thing. Its very colourful, and detailed, but their isn't much change in the enemies at all, and many of the enemies of the first game are in this one too.

The gameplay sets it apart. You can change during play between Joe and Silvia, who have different techniques, however they have one thing in common. By tapping the right button you can speed up or slow down the action in order to make some incredibly stunning visual displays of attacks. There are also puzzles where speeding up or slowing down will raise or lower certain sections. The bosses are all unique and the levels are varied. You'll fight in the land of dinosaurs, to futuristic sections.

So what lets this game down? Its hard. VERY HARD. EXTREMELY HARD! Beyond the realms of normal difficulty. You would have thought they'd learnt their lesson after the first game, but no. Anyway, if you perservere, you'll see a great game underneath a rock hard shell. Worth owning if for originalities sake.
