Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
From the off, it's fair to concede that the world's best-selling action football game, FIFA 2005, hasn't changed an awful lot in the past twelve months. Those who bought the last version will be entirely familiar with the game's look and feel, and could rightly argue that once more this new version is an evolution at best. But it's still quite a good one. The FIFA series has, in recent times, got into the habit of adding one big new feature each year, with middling successes. Last year's, if you remember, was the impressive-but-tricky off the ball control. This year we get a simpler addition, but a far more effective one. It's the first touch option, and it genuinely can open the game up, whether you choose to use it for a quick pass or tighter control. And it works because it's straightforward--there's no endless messing around with buttons to get it moving.

The rest of the game attracts the usual annual pros and cons. Its presentation is second-to-none, and for a more attacking-focused game, you need look no further. What's more, the single player mode is substantial, and very long lasting. The downside is the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise which is, and remains, the choice of the hardcore gamer. Yet that doesn't mean there's not fun to be had with FIFA 2005. Quite the contrary, in fact. Every year, FIFA can be relied on to provide an entertaining, engrossing and long-lasting football game. Thus, whilst it might be in second place, and this latest release doesn't change that, it remains a strong and worthwhile runner-up.--Simon Brew

Manufacturer's Description
All great players have a great first touch and, thanks to EA Sports’ all-new fluid player kinetic system, the same is now true for FIFA Football 2005 users. This year, a player’s first touch becomes the ultimate gift to those who can think quickly and act fast to outsmart the opposition. A brand new animation system ensures that every button press is directly mirrored on the pitch, accurately reflecting the speed and vision of the world’s greatest players. Featuring more official team and league licenses than any other football game (including lower leagues from the most competitive European countries), an enhanced and extended Career Mode, and an all-new Creation Zone that lets you customise new tournaments or even put yourself into the game, FIFA Football 2005 is the only complete, authentic and intelligent football experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars FIFA IS BACK, 17 Oct 2004
By A Customer
FIFA2005 IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. FIFA 2003 WAS OUTSTANDING WITH BRILLIANT GRAPHICS AND SWIFT GAMEPLAY. NOW WHEN FIFA2004 CAME OUT, I WAS SOO DISSAPOINTED THAT I HARDLY PLAYED IT. NASTY GRPAHICS, POOR CONTROL, EVERYTHING SUCKED BASICALLY. BUT FIFA 2005 IS A SUCCESS THANK GOD.

FIRST THINGS FIRST, THIS WHOLE THING ABOUT FIRST TOUCH IS SWEEL. IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM, ONCE YOU HAVE MASTERED IT. TRUST ME, PLAYING IT WITH ALOT OF MATES AND DOING ODD FLICK ONS MAKES YOU JUS LAUGH LOL. YOU CAN ALSO DO GREAT SKILLS, SUCH AS STEP OVERS, 360 SPINZ AND MORE, BUT AGAIN YOU HAVE 2 MASTER IT AND BLANCE IT WITH PACE. AT LEAST PLAYERS HAVE DIFFERENT RESPONSES TO THE BALL, AND CAN PACE OTHER PLAYERS OUT, LIKE HENRY PACING WOODGATE.

GRAPHICS HAVE IMPORVED FROM 04'. PLAYERS LOOK SOO DETAILED AND LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE REAL THING. IN 04' I NOTICED PLAYERS LOOKING THE SAME, LIKE A WHOLE TEAM WITH THE SAME FACE, LOL. . . .BUT WITH 05' DAT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

CREATE UR OWN PLAYER!!! OH MY GOSH. WHAT A WIKID FEATURE 4 REAL. TRUST ME THE AMOUNT OF DETAIL YOU CAN PUT IN UR DREAM PLAYER IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. FRM EAR RINGS, TO DIFFERENT COLOUR BOOTS.

THE PITCH AS USUAL LOOKZ FANSTATIC, WITH GREAT CHANTS FROM THE FANS. AND THE COMMENTATING HAS STEEPED UP A GEAR. IN 04' U WOULD GET CONSTANT INSULTS FROM THE COMMENTATOR AFTER YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING GOOD, BUT WITH 05' YOU GET PRAISED FOR GOOD PACES AND 1ST TOUCH.

FREE KICKS ARE WIKID, CORNERS ARE DECENT (SAME AS 04') PENALTIES ARE BASIC. TRAINING MODE IS LIKE 04 AS WELL. THE CAREER MODE IS 2 MUCH. I CANT EXPLAIN HOW GREAT IT IS, BUT IF UR A CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER FAN, YOU WOULD LOVE THIS FEATURE AS WELL. A 15YEAR SEASON AS A MANAGER . . . AND YOU CANT PICK ANY OLD TEAM, THEY GIVE YOU THE TEAMS 2 SSTART OFF WITH, AND YOU HAVE 2 IMPROVE YOU MANAGERIAL SKILLS.

OVERALLL THIS GAME IS 2 MUCH, AND I THINK IF FIFA CONTINUE TO CREATE FOOTIE GAMES LIKE THIS, PRO EVO WILL BE SHATTERED FOR GOOD LOL. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FIFA AND PURCHASE THIS GAME YOU FOOTIE FANZ, PLUS. MANUTD ARE THE BEST, SAFE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game, 30 Mar 2005
I bought FIFA 2003 just after 2004 came out and i thought it was a brilliant game though lacking something to make it a classic. Then 2004 came out and it got really really bad reviews. So when 2005 came out i bought it quikly and was not dissapointed at all. The first touch is a stroke of genius. it can really slice open a deffence if used properly. But if you touch in the wrong direction the other team will grab the ball off you. Another great feature is the create a player it allows you to create detailed players to whatever level of goodness you want. Ontop of all the features the game play is excellent. When playing 2003 i found that most goals i scored looked the same. This has changed totally and there are many ways to score beautiful goals.
The best mode though has to be manager which is just class. You start off with a not so good team but as the journey goes on you are offered better teams until you hopefully reach your goal and become a 5 star manager. This game is great. Better than pro evo!

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by slick graphics, 16 Jul 2004
By A Customer
EA have been very inconsistent with the Fifa series and if Fifa 2005 is anything like Fifa 2004, then i'm afraid we're in for another disappointment.
With the release of Fifa 2003, EA finally started to get things right and we hoped they would continue the trend with Fifa 2004, but this was not to be.
My advise is don't pre order. Play the game first and then decide what you think. Don't get carried away with rave reviews from people who haven't even played the game yet.
