    This is a very good machine, especially for the price. It has had no problems playing any of my dvds or divx films. An attractive slim player although a fair bit wider than my video and Sky box.
    A couple of things that might be useful to know are that if you have an old PAL only television like me, this machine will let you play NTSC discs properly, in full colour rather than black and white. Also to turn it into a region free player, open the disc tray, then press 7,8,9,ok,and then 0 on the remote control.
    In short this is the best overall player I have used, even better than other machines costing up to 3 times the price.

    I bought this as a replacement DVD player, and in particular because I wanted a multi-region player, and one that could use other formats if I needed. As other reviewers have noted, the quality of DVD players has come on leaps and bounds while prices have plummeted. The picture quality and audio were a noticable improvement on the previous player I owned, for which, some 3 years or so ago, I paid much more. For some reason however the sound (through a Panasonic HD TV) had to be cranked a lot up when viweing DVD's, not something I had to do with its predecessor - but the quality was noticeably better.

    As well as perfoming well, it looks good, too. Two negative comments though which mean I give it 4/5 rather than 5/5 - although Amazon advertise this as a multi region player, when it arrives it is set for Region 2 only, and the manual simply says that other regions are not supported. I thought I'd been had and warily followed the instructions of another reviewer - open tray, press 7,8,9, OK, 0 on remote control - and yes I can confirm this does re-set the player to an all region player, a small "0" briefly appearing on the screen at the end of re-programming. My Region 1 discs play fine. However unless I'd known this I would have boxed it up and sent it back! Second comment - the remote is not very nice to handle, cheap shiney silver plastic, and for me the buttons are not arranged intuitively - unlike the Samsung I previously had.

    All in all a great buy. One futher point - worth paying for a decent SCART cable, really makes a difference.

    I bought this DVD player because I wanted to play DivX movies on my big TV....It works great! I have succesfully burnt and viewed loads of different formats.

    One thing that wasn't clear before I bought it was the ability to play XviD movies. It works absolutely fine. I have watched an XviD movies with Dolby Pro Logic sound, this player will play just about anything you throw at it.

    Someone gave me a CD full of digital camera pictures, thought I would try it in the DVD player and we got a slideshow, amazing!

    Burn you entire CD collection to MP3 and put it on a DVD. You won't belive the amount you can get on there and it will play them. It will even show you the different folders so you can select which one to play.

    Overall Excellent quality, excellent sound and looks great. Only downside is that the remote is a bit fiddly and I have been known to press the wrong button and skipped a chapter rather than fast forwarding/rewinding (hence the 4 star rating).

    But if you want a great everything player you won't be dissapointed and it comes at a great price.
