I was a bit dubious about buying Alfie at first, as I thought he would be like the other musical toys that I had bought, all right for a bit and then they get boring and end up in the toy cupboard. But when I showed it to my little boy and then took it away he got upset, so I decided to give it a go - I bought it. I actually thought I would be wasting my eight pounds that I had paid for it. I gave it to my little boy who is nine months (corrected age 7 months) as soon as we got home and from the word go he was fascinated with it. There's lots of flashing lights to keep him amused, a variety of different songs, and lots of hugs and kisses being asked for or given and I love the sound of the teddy making a kissing sound. I love the way it makes the lights and sounds seem to jump around Alfie, no matter what button is pressed it makes my little boy smile and laugh and he loves the kissing sounds and so do I. He gets so excited when Alfie is turned on. It is an excellent toy for learning sounds that are varied all the time. I will give it top marks. It is also a good way to set your child on the road to learning sounds and development through listening and playing all rolled into one small Alfie, who is a very bright and happy teddy. There are different songs that come from Alfie. Highly recommended. I am glad to say for once I am happy with my decision to buy Alfie and my boy can take him anywhere ie in the cot, car or attached to his pram when we go out and about. It was well worth the eight pounds, and I am glad that he didn't end up in the toy cupboard. Very happy with this product.

This toy demands hugs and kisses in the most annoying voice possible. Even when you haven't pushed a button, still it blathers on. Just when you think you've got it to shut up, it starts up again.

As for educational value: I just don't see it. The thing has a three buttons on it and it plays a different annoying song depending on which button you press. Perfect if we're training a nation of couch potatoes.
