DVD Description

A five-disc box set containing all three films in the Lion King Trilogy: The Lion King, The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride and The Lion King III: Hakuna Matada:

  • The Lion King:
The number one Academy Award-winning animated film of all time is a timeless classic that introduces a fabulous cast of characters with enduring appeal. Simba, an inquisitive and cheeky young lion cub, is desperate to find his place in nature’s circle of life and follow in the regal paw prints of his father King Mufasa. However, his treacherous Uncle Scar has other ideas. Set against a stunningly animated backdrop of the Serengeti, The Lion King has is it all - epic adventure, humour, entertaining characters and a roaring story-line!

  • The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride:
The majesty of the Pridelands returns with the classic characters from the original film, along with a host of entertaining new additions to the pride. The story catches up with Simba and Nala and their newborn cub, Kiara. Scar’s followers have been banished to live beyond the Prideland boundaries, but are secretly plotting to overthrow King Simba. It’s up to his plucky daughter Kiera to save the day and the Pridelands from the hands of the evil Outlanders.

  • The Lion King III: Hakuna Matata:
This story goes back before the beginning – before even Timon and Pumbaa met and became friends. Timon – eager to spread his wings and explore the world beyond – sets out on an adventure alone. But it’s not long before Pumbaa wafts into his path and they become ‘acquaintances’ to the end. When they come upon a feisty young cub, Simba, the comedy adventure really takes off. Discover what really happened when Simba and Nala were reunited, Scar and Simba come face to face on Pride Rock and much, much more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lion is King, 6 Oct 2004

    (REAL NAME)
This is the definitive Lion King box set, but isn't really worth the money if you own any of the other DVDs. I bought the original lion king a few months ago when it was out in the collectors set, and the Lion King dvd in this pack is the same 2 disc collectors edition. The other two films, Lion King 3 (or 1 1/2 as it's also known) and Lion King Two are the same as the previos releases. There's some special features on all three, Lion King's 1 and 3 being most impressive as a 2 disc set, but all in all this pack is only worth buying if you don't own any. And I must say, The Lion King, that is, the first one, is the best anyway, so if you have that then it's not really worth buying unless you are a die hard collector (like me).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Films and worth buying, 25 Nov 2004
I bought the box set for my girlfriends birthday and it didnt disappoint. She loved all of the films and also managed to get me to watch them. If you liked any of the films then you will love all 3 of them. Well worthy of buying

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not live up to expectations, 2 Jan 2005
I bought this trilogy without having watched the second and third films. I would say that the first film is probably one of my favourites, and obviously I wasn't expecting the other two to be as good. However if you like the original film you will be sorely disappointed by the second, it is only an hour long, so as you can imagine, never builds up to any real climax, and there aren't any really good songs to make up for this. Timone and Pumba are the only things that will prevent you getting bored to tears before the end of the film. The third is like watching a saturday morning cartoon on TV: there's a lot of singing and tomfoolery from our friends Timone and Pumba, and a lot of good songs from the first one, but it lacks the big climaxes that you get in the first one, and that you would expect from a movie rather than a TV show. Still the third is much better than the second. I would suggest this is only worth getting if you've got young children, or if you've got money to burn, otherwise just get the first one on DVD.
