DVD Description

Also now available on VHS PAL here is a whole year of powerful film highlights accompanied by some of the best traditional and modern Scottish regional music available including Runrig, Capercaille, Cliar and Phil Cunnigham which celebrates the local history. A year in the making and the first DVD for the Highlands (Scotland?) of this genre, Skye – The Movie! is fast becoming a best seller.

Chapters: 1. HIGHLAND FESTIVALS. The majestic Highland Piping Festival & Highland Games! 2. ANIMAL & PLANT KINGDOMS. Up close and personal with dolphins, eagles, seals, plus our splendid castle gardens and the wild open countryside. 3. WATER WORLD. Dramatic footage from the deck of our own vintage sailing boat, waterfalls, seascapes and beaches. 4. ISLAND PEOPLE. Meet the real folk of Skye at work and play in some stunning locations. 5. HISTORIC SITES. Ancient and mysterious remains of past cultures and of course, Skye’s fantastic castles of the MacLeods and MacDonalds. 6. THE LAND. World famous, highly scenic terrain shot from all angles throughout the four seasons designed to take your breath away. 7. THE PLANETS. A host of planetary phenomena crowned by the very rare solar eclipse, of which Skye seems to be the only place that witnessed this on May 17 2003.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whisked away to the Isle of Majesty and Beauty!, 3 Nov 2004
By R. E. LEACH "PureHeartVideo" (Bury, Lancashire, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Right from the beautiful opening music and video sequence, I knew this was going to be good.
PAL one side, NTSC the other....a nice touch.
The synopsis on Amazon gives the menu options and the audio content but comes nowhere near describing how BEAUTIFUL this DVD is to watch and hear!
Play it when you are curled up with your sweetie and you are both gently transported to the Highlands of Scotland, to see the land, the people, the life.
The start wakes you up with Highland pipes so be warned, but it's musically melodic and interesting. A real slice of life.
Then it settles down to be just gorgeous for the best part of an hour.
You can play it for the feast of nature and history, or you can play it for the sublime authentic Scots music.
Heartily recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars Scenic but not for music fans, 8 Jun 2005
By A Customer
This was a very scenic DVD for those interested in Skye. It was however not in my opinion for music lovers. The tracks by Runrig and cappercallie were incdental background music. If you are expecting to see footage of the bands..this is not for you!
