Mashed is a top down racing game that pits up to four players against each other in a gladiatorial racing battle extravaganza. Compete over 13 challenging and diverse environments using whatever means necessary to batter and bruise your opponents into submission, and claim victory for yourself. Using a plethora of weapons or just your driving skills unleash your fury, cause absolute carnage and send your friends to a humiliating defeat!

And it's not over there! Unique to Mashed, defeated opponents will be able to sit back and target you or other remaining drivers with deadly missile air strikes at their leisure. But whether they target the race leader or decide to enjoy some satisfying revenge is another matter entirely...

I picked this up cheaply, expecting cheap graphics, sound and gameplay to entertain a bored friend for an hour.

We loaded it up and played a round.

Three hours later our hastily phoned friends had arrived and a full tournament was underway - I cannot believe the fun this game generates!

The basic idea is to either outrun or destroy your opponent's car using a variety of weapons strewn around the numerous tracks. The varied nature of the different tracks is excellent, one is set on a busy motorway, a beach resort, junkyard, etc.

Stop reading and buy this now!

I liked this game so much, I now have it on three formats! PC, XBox (Fully Loaded) and PS2. (It runs on PS3 also) The 'Fully Loaded' XBox version I have is best 'cause there's extra tracks, cars, a training mode and new tournaments not built into the original version. However the XBox version is not backwards compatible, so if you've got an XBox 360 this game won't run on it. Having said that, it would be worth considering buying an original XBox just to play this game! It's that good! The game play in single player is quite a challenge, but the game comes into it's own in multi-player. This game is not online enabled, but is great fun as a party game with friends. The graphics are crisp on all formats, but best on PC. The XBox version has a slight edge on PS2, but the graphics are scaled up slightly when played on the PS3. I have both small and large screen LCD TVs as some of the older games suffer graphic fidelity on the large screen. This really is not the case with 'Mashed' if you're hooked up with descent component or HDMI cables. The sound is great and the tunes really set the mood well. In conclusion I can quite safely say this game is one of the best games in my extensive games library. If it had been online enabled it would've gone stellar!
