As a compilation cd, this album has a great overall sound and should appeal to fans of 'rock' music from 1960s through to present day (I personally found it a good album to listen to in the car). The album is a real mix of singles, some classic and some new, and a few lesser known tracks such as 'King of Rock and Roll' by Prefab Sprout. My only gripe is that I sometimes find myself skipping one or two of the weaker songs such as E=MC2.

On another note, as a warning, the tracklisting and order of songs shown here on amazon is different (presumably incorrect) to the copy I own, and there are tracks listed here that do not appear on the actual cd (tracks by Dandy Warhols, Blondie, Mock Turtles , Vibrators, Fatboy Slim and House of Love).

Still, a good compilation nonetheless.

When it comes to compilation CD's im not usually a great fan. Too many bands on one CD and you always end up with one dodgy cd if its a two disc set. Why am I always suckered into buying then, as you can tell a music fan disheartened by the lack of vision from the studios. Oh and did i mention that it's only to make money for the Label and not the artist. However... This is one album which I am never dissillusioned with. It was fantastic and I knew it always would be. With bands like the clash, The stranglers, the Undertones and oasis, feeder, The Mock Turtles. This is one fantastic CD, if your a pupil of the old school, and want this CD for the anthems like "Should I stay or Should I go?" and "She sells sanctuary" (one of my personal faviourites), or the new school looking for "just a Day" by the mighty mighty feeder or "Cigarettes and Alcohol" (Another personal Faviourite) there's something for everyone. But its not the reason to buy it because you like a few bands on the CD. The reason to buy it is to broaden your listening horizons. The CD is put together in such a way that all your faviourites are mixed together with ones you may not usually listen to and as thus makes you listen to and appreciate the other bands. Alternitavley yuo could buy it because you appreciate real music and this is exactly what it is. Never has the title for a CD been more appropriate "Heroes" they certainly are.
