5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for me!, 11 Sep 2004
I am not usually a music DVD/video fan, I always tend to think it will be a sterotypical bunch of songs with the singer standing motionless. Being a huge fan of Moloko however, I decided to purchase the DVD. I was NOT dissapointed. The collection of songs is diverse and brilliant. From the crazy and lovable Fun For Me to the hauntingly beautiful Statues, this collection of songs shows what a unique and inventive band they are. In a world of put-together bands, it is so nice to see a band who are not afraid to be different.
This DVD gives Roisin a chance to show off her fantastic voice (she has never sounded so good), and her dancing. And can the girl dance!!! Give her a part in Chicago anyday!! You go girl!
She has a brilliant rapport with the crowd, shaking hands, hi-fives, and I haven't even started on the stage diving!! How many artists allows themselves to interact like that?
If anyone is in any doubt about seeing Moloko live, buy this DVD, and beleive me, you will be purchasing tickets on the first day of release, and queueing up at 2am to get the best seat in the house.
Classic

4.0 out of 5 stars I was there and it still gives me that feeling!, 3 Sep 2004
I went from Sardinia-Italy to London's Brixton Academy to see this amazing final gig of Moloko's tour and I simply know it was truly worth the journey. The band really plays good and Roisin is in a majestic shape. Keyboard player Eddie Stevens is a great part of the show too and the his included short film about the day in the life of a rock musician is as nice as mad!
It gives more moloko's familiar feelings. Once again the DVD still gives me the electricity of that night and I guess all of you could catch it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant registration of a great live act, 30 Aug 2004
The first review for this DVD is even more disappointing than the person him- or herself. Most probably this review was given by a wannabe reviewer who knows a few Moloko hitsingles and never took the time to listen to previous album tracks or experience Moloko Live. If you have seen Moloko live, which I did in Belgium and Holland, then you must admit that the director of this DVD was able to capture an enormous live band and the atmosphere of a great gig. My personal music taste is grunge, symphonic rock and a bit of alternative dance and I was surprised that I liked this kind of atmospheric dance with a touch of funk/jazz. So there's no excuse not loving this kind of music to give a poor review. You don't have to like the style of music to be able to appreciate the musical talents of a band in it's style.
Nevertheless let's move forward to a review which is more helpful if you consider to buy this DVD. The music is both funky as well as relaxed and ambient. If you have been to one of their live concerts it's impossible not to be moved by this registration. If you like music like Massive Attack and Lamb this DVD is a must in your collection. Hits like "Forever more", "The time is now" and "Fun for me" are performed and great as you probably know them. The special performance of songs like "Sing it back", "Familiar feelings" and "Cannot contain this" have made these songs even more beautiful and the fragile verions of "Statues" and "100%" have convinced me to become an admirer of their musical variety. With the theatrical singer and great entertainer Roisin Murphy and the brilliant and nuts Eddie Stevens on keyboards/organ this band does not need special effects or expensive shows to entertain. If you do not have music of Moloko in your collection I would say this is more than A Best of Moloko live DVD! Enjoy this concert...
