    5.0 out of 5 stars Panasoni NV-GS120B, 25 May 2004
By Mad Ron (dereham, norfolk United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is a very good little camera which is capable of outstanding video due to the 3 CCDs. It fits nicely in the hand and so stability is not an issue. As well as good video it also takes pretty good still shots and comes with the required software to transfer to PC. Also bundled in the box is a very handy remote microphone/controler. The rather miserly 10x optical zoom operates smoothly and as quickly or slowly as you want. The 500x digital zoom is, of course, quite useless. Low light capability is about as good as it could be with 1lux sensitivity. It has DV in/out but sadly no analogue input. You need to get the next model up (the 200b) to get this. While this camera is not an entry level model, it is so easy to use that beginners and more experienced users will feel equally at home with it. Overall, I would highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would have normally gone for a Sony, 17 Aug 2004
This is my no frills review. I managed to purchase this camera for around £500. This camera provides excellent sharp colourful footage thanks to the 3CCDs. The camera is tiny (when you consider its performance)

Some of the more notable features about this camera include the impressive "Tele-Macro" function which allows you to zoom in and focus on small objects - which is great for picking out detail, and the remote stick is very useful for zooming in without causing the camera to wobble if mounted on a tripod.

Bad points include the manual focus adjustment - another one of those horrible plastic dials that you have to rotate vigorously everytime you want to change your focus. Apparently the higher 200 model has a focus ring on the lens for manual adjustments.
In low light this camera behaves pretty poorly (in comparison to a Smasung £200 Hi8 camera which had some great low light exposure modes) and the night shoot feature is a bit of an impractical gimmick that only works well with photos as opposed to video.

The stereo microphone picks up pretty well for a camera of this size and price, with it (from my experience) being able to capture sound in loud situations clearly without distortion (compared to a Canon sub-£500 DV cam in the same room as a chamber orchestra. Also the machine noise from the camera picked up by the mic is also very acceptable.

In short - if you are upgrading from analogue you will be very impressed with this purchase, however if you want features like night shoot and better focus adjustment, it may be an idea to look elsewhere.
