DVD Description

1985 saw English and European football dominated by Merseyside. In the space of a month between April and May, Manchester United overcame lucky late goals and questionable refereeing decisions to prise the F.A. Cup from its grip. Liverpool, defending champions, European Cup holders and 1985 European Cup finalists, survived the semi-final with two last-minute equalizers. However, they had no answer for Robson and Hughes in the replay at Maine Road. Everton, English champions, European Cup Winners Cup winners and F.A. Cup holders waited at Wembley. Not even the most famous red card in F.A. Cup history could stop United and Whiteside’s wonder goal brought the Cup back to Manchester. Relive the memories and enjoy three of the Scousebusting moments from the eighties. Each game is featured in extended highlights, available for the first time on DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Memories, 8 Feb 2005
This took me back to the days when Liverpool were dominant and Man Utd only had the consolation of the occasional FA Cup. The DVD quality is fairly good. It is noticeable how little use is made of replays compared to Skysports these days. Other things that struck me include the lack of play-acting, little arguing with the ref, the lack of whistle-blowing by the ref, the fences in front of the terraces, commentators reporting what happens rather than bombarding us with stats, and the appallingly windy conditions in the original semi-final. This was a great dvd to reminisce about. The eighties aren't particularly seen as a golden period of fair play and flowing football, but compared to today they were (on the evidence of these games - notwithstanding Moran's sending off in the final). For a long standing United fan this is a great price, for the newer fan it is a reminder of what the rest of us went through in the 80s, when we were underdogs against Liverpool and Everton. If they release a DVD of the '79 semis against Liverpool, I'll be buying that as well, not so bothered about the final!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great games, great memories, 18 May 2004
By A Customer
This took me back, I went to all three games in 85 and the atmosphere and excitment are captured beautifully on the DVD. It was great seeing Robson, Hughes and Whiteside doing what they do best - Scousebusting!
