DVD Description

A 2002 DJ Shadow concert at London's Brixton Academy is chronicled on In Tune and On Time. The CD features 20 tracks, including "Drums of Death" and "Lonely Soul" from Shadow's collaboration with James LaVelle as UNKLE, as well as favourites from Blackalicious ("Halfway Home") and Handsome Boy Modeling School ("Holy Calamity").

The DVD sports four additional tracks, includes the two standout cuts "You Can't Go Home Again" and "6 Days" from his 2002 album The Private Press. Also featured is a sampler battle between Shadow, Cut Chemist and Jurassic 5's DJ Nu-Mark taped at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles, on-the-road footage and an interview with Shadow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent live performance by DJ Shadow, 4 Jun 2004
I was lucky enough to see the premiere of this DVD earlier this month at the electric cinema...

For anyone who is pessimistic or unsure whther the release is worth it, i can tell you it most certainly is.

Capturing the 2002 brixton academy shows of DJ Shadow's tour, the DVD brings the performance back to life, with some great filming and the best bits from both nights. It also gives you a chance to see those massive screens again with all the abstact, but well edited film cuts.

The show features many DJ Shadow songs (i think its something like 46, although only 23 or so actually feature heavily) with some great remixes of specific tunes that any shadow fan has to hear(including a sweet drum n bass remix). Add to that a CD of the show (at least im suspecting that is what it will be following the trend of Product Placement) and special features including a mix with cut chemist DJ Numark and this DVD is set to be something you dont wanna miss...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing.. from start to finish.., 6 Sep 2007
By A. Butler (Liverpool, U.K) - See all my reviews

From start to finish is definitely how you should play this. Whether you're watching the DVD or playing the CD, it needs to be heard in its entirety.

Being a huge Shadow fan this is probably my favourite collection of his work to date. If you're not a huge Shadow fan then this would be a great place to start.

As soon as you hear the 'whomp, whomp' intro of 'Fixed Income' you'll know exactly what you're in for. Shadow mixes and matches all his best work effortlessly and I've heard some people say they actually prefer a few versions to their originals.

As far as the DVD goes it's excellently shot, with a mixture of Shadow, crowd, equipment and weird trippy visuals that work really well with the music.

The extras aren't bad either with the 'Pushing Buttons' routine with Cut Chemist and Numark standing out. There is also a secret extra to be found within the menu (hint: I had to use my computer mouse to find it) which is an in depth look at the making of some of DJ Shadows music videos.

I seriously can't recommend this enough, regardless if you're a fan or not. Fantastic DVD capturing the atmosphere of a magical performance by DJ Shadow, brought to you in tune and on time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb - Shadow at his best, 18 Dec 2006
By Mr. A. Akhtar "kissthedevil" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After his awful Outsider album - it was nice to discover this floating around. I saw the same tour (but not at Brixton) and this really is a sublime DVD. The footage is extensive and well cut together - the tunes are deadly - with some superb scratching (note on the recent outsider tour - there was nothing anywhere near as inspiring as there is on this DVD). You really should own this DVD / CD set as it is now deleted and highlights a masterclass in breakbeat / hip-hop / ambient music. It also features a 5.1 surround mix. Awesome.
