3.0 out of 5 stars The SIMple life, 31 Jan 2005
By tomm (england) - See all my reviews
now....first of all we should make one thing clear, apart from the fact you can "bust out" this is nothing like the console/pc versions of the game. One of the big differences are you now control your sim directly, instead of clicking on an object and watching your sim walk to it.Wich leads me to one of the games flaws,as in all other versions you can visit other destinations but running around the town becomes very annoying, of course you can always take your scooter, but be warned it handles like a sofa.another change for the n-gage version is you now act out the tasks at your sims place of work for instance your first job involves mowing lawns, and is suprisingly fun.Overall this isnt a bad game,but.....it isnt a great game either,if you liked the sims you wont necessarily like this game, and with a few other great games coming along soon it might be worth saving your money and bodyswerving this turkey.

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting take..., 6 Nov 2004
By Mr. Steven Gibson "magweb2" (uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Sims Busting Out is certainly an addictive game, with many different and interesting features. Its main weakness is the occassional flaw in programming - I have lost my transportation once or twice, and on reloading it has reappeared. Similarly, the map of the sim world has a tendency to play up.

However, minor technical problems aside, the game is incredibly fun to play! It is easy to move around the game, and gameplay is smooth (until somebody phones you...)

Why the sims? The only real difference between this and any other puzzle based game is that you also need to maintain your characters life - make sure he goes to the toilet, sleeps comfortably, has plenty of fun, eats and doesn't stink. Although annoying at times - who wants to told by the character you need to speak to that he won't speak to you until you've had a wash - it definately adds something different and fun to the game.

I hope you buy it, and I hope you enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute graphics, very addictive gameplay, 11 Jan 2005
This is essentially the GBA version of Sims: Bustin Out but with additional items (such as a sauna, a karaoke machine etc) and locations (Paradise Island), and online multiplayer mini-games based around your character's mobile phone (which themselves unlock new items which seem to get added to the system periodically over the internet).

...and it's really good!

I could not stop playing this when I got it, partly because it's open-ended and freeform, you can wander from one place to another with a huge variety of tasks and mini-games to play and lovely little details hidden away in the town like squirrels playing in beautifully windy leaves. It's all animated wonderfully, I know it's isometric but it's the prettiest isometric you've ever seen.

It really suits being on the n-gage too, because S:BO is well suited to varied lengths of gameplay: you can play it for hours or you can play it for a few minutes, so it's nice to have it in your phone for when some unexpected moment of boredom approaches.
