4.0 out of 5 stars MY Playboy, 19 Jul 2005
By H. Kirton (Leeds, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Ever wanted to decide what goes in Playboy? Well, here's your chance.

In this game, you get to decide who goes on the cover and the centrefold as well as which interviews and essays to use, what articles make the cut and what pictorial content to have. You get to play Hef and hire the playmates, the journalists and the photographers. You get to the parties and build the ultimate Playboy mansion.

One big element of the game is building up relationships. You can build business, friendly and, with the ladies, romantic relationships. This is a disappointingly easy thing to do once you get to grips with the game. There's no real challenge as far as relationships are concerned in this game.

However, the rest of the game is highly playable and, as those who demand my attention will confirm, highly addictive. Each piece of content is rated on a scale of one to five bunnies and getting each piece of content up to top notch standard is VERY tricky. You've got to pick the right people for the job and make sure they're all in a good mood before they get started. Objects can be cleverly placed around the mansion to alter a person's mood.

Also, even in the freeplay game, you are given goals. Complete the goals and you get a new game object. These can help alter a person's mood in your favour and can also make cool props for photo shoots (which you get to direct).

For the photo shoots, you get the chance to choose the clothes (or lack of) of your model. Unfortunately, the choice of clothes is a little limited and I've struggled to stop my outfits from become "the same". Also, unless you are prepared to update your mansion on a regular basis, the backgrounds and locations soon get dull and repetitive.

The soundtrack is pretty decent. There is a range of genres to pick the music from so every should find something to their taste. The graphics, whilst not as good as something like Sims 2, are still pretty decent.

All in all, this is a pretty good game. I would definitely recommend it to those who like a role-play style gaming format.

4.0 out of 5 stars Taste for the ladies???, 15 Mar 2005
By david (London) - See all my reviews
Ever fancied yourself as a bit of a shark with the ladies? This allows you to build your empire from scratch, begin by signing 'amateur' ladies with a tight budget to your 'playboy'lable. Give the gentlemen what they like then they decide to part cash for your mag. money in your pocket, nicer girls, bigger grotto, more stars, publicity etc. good fun for a week or so, just be careful this doesn't keep you in on a friday night...away from the real girls.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm, porn or a game?!, 1 Aug 2005

One of the funniest things i've ever played. The strategy of the game is good but the fact that there are so many naked women wandering about just gets on your nerves after a bit (Obviously if you're a woman, if you're a man you'll love it!!)
