Product Description

Album Description

In 1985 All About Eve released their first single as Sounds journalist Chris Roberts compared singer Julianne Regan to Kate Bush and describes the song as "a gouache Baltic ballad with stirring vocal interplay and a heart like a dynamometer."

Their second single 'In The Clouds' is released to unanimous critical acclaim. It's named Single Of The Week in Sounds. The next single 'Our Summer' is awarded Single Of The Week in Melody Maker. In 1987, All About Eve signed a deal with music industry giants Phonogram and set about writing and recording their first album. The album went double gold, selling in excess of a quarter of a million copies in a short space of time. It also spawned five hit singles, including the haunting acoustic ballad 'Martha's Harbour' which went Top Ten and spent over two months in the Charts. From such an incredible start the band eventually split in 1992.

In 2000 the band reformed and perform a sell-out Christmas 2000 show at London's Union Chapel. In December 2001, they repeated their sell-out of the Union Chapel, which has become an annual event.

The legendary Goth rockers have now returned with their first new single in over a decade. An extensive UK tour and a highly dedicated and devoted fanbase should see another Top 40 hit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back with a bang, 12 May 2004
By A Customer
The first All About Eve single for... well, a long time. Two track CD2 opens with the single edit of Let Me Go Home, a pumped up offering hinting that All About Eve 2004 are a tougher beast than the band you might recall from days gone by. Play it loud for maximum effect. Track 2 is exclusive to CD2, a wonderful cover of The Cure's 'Apart'. Julianne Regan doesn't sound like Robert Smith (obviously!) and this doesn't sound like The Cure - it's firmly stamped with the All About Eve badge. 'Apart' is six minutes of magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb comeback single from All About Eve, 24 May 2004
By Chris (Connah's Quay, Flintshire Wales) - See all my reviews
I've seen and heard All About Eve play this track about 20 times on recent tours, and from its live debut it was clear this was one of the outstanding songs in an impressive and varied array of new material. 'Let Me Go Home' will unceremoniously shatter many preconceptions about AAE, as not only does it show a harder, more robust edge to their sound, but it displays how AAE's production has evolved into the modern era. 'Martha's Harbour' it certainly isn't! But when coupled with the band's still evident high standard of songwriting, and Julianne's flawless delivery, it makes for a hugely welcome return to fine form for a brand new All About Eve. This is clearly not a band prepared to rely on former glories...this is a band looking very firmly into the future, a future that looks very optimistic for them if they can keep delivering work like this. Welcome back AAE!!
