There are lots of digital camera on the market,but looking for the right one could be difficult.After reading lots of reviews, I initially decided to go for DSCP10. To my surprise, sony launch a new model,replacing P10..the P100.This is excellent.It is smaller, and had better lens with similar,if not better functions.Picture quality is brilliant.It is small(not too tiny) and easy to handle.
If you shop around..you will get value for money.Amazon price is good.
This is an excellent camera. P120 is similar to P100, but I personnaly donn't like the black.The silver colour button contrast the black body too much...make it look abit like a toy.
Go for the P100..shop around for price, oh ya..remember to get at least 256MB sony memory stick PRO..it is better for recording and faster.Again..shop around and you will be amazed with the price difference.Amazon,again offer competitive price.

After alot of research I decided to purchase the Sony DSC-P100 digital camera. I was initially going to go for the Canon IXUS 500 until I read about the new Sony to be launched at the start of June 2004. I'm very pleased I waited for the Sony its an excellent compact camera and easily slips into a shirt pocket.

The new Sony DSC-P100 comes with a new Carl Zesis Professional compact camera lens which produces outstanding photo's under all lighting conditionsand rapid auto focusing.

The new movie mode on the camera is also excellent and allows you to capture 640 x 480 mpeg movies with sound at 30 frames per second (PAL TV is only 25) until your run out of capacity on your memory stick pro card. Believe me they're almost as good as a proper camcorder, the Canon IXUS can only capture at a disapointing 10 frames per second, no good for high speed action and is limited to only a few seconds.

There are nine pre set photo scene modes on the Sony covering high speed shots to night scenes and soft focus for portraits. The Canon has no pre set modes.

The camera starts up rapidly and is ready to take photos in around 2 seconds. Thats pretty quick and can shoot up to 9 successive photo's at full 5 megapixel resolution. Battery life is also excellent too and the display tells you how many photo's you can take or thenumber of minutes left browsing through images.

Go and buy one today you won't be dissapointed and once again Amazon where the cheapest I could find.

Well, after much deliberating and searching around for the perfect digital camera I took the plunge and splashed on the Sony DSC-P100S and have had no regrets since. It is my 1st digital camera and being a bit of a point-&-press person it has been great. I did look at the slightly less expensive models but they are a little bigger and for just a few more pounds you get lots more stuff. I took it on holiday and everyone was very jealous of the fantastic pictures of Yosemite Park, Grand Canyon etc., that I took. It was really easy to navigate around the functions (even the first day I went off took great photos and without reading the instructions!). It is really easy to download the photos onto my laptop and I have uploaded them onto the Sony Imagestation website so everyone can log in and see them.

I did get a spare battery (although I haven't needed it as it will go a whole 5 days of being turned on and off every day easily) and a 256MB memory stick pro card for it. I'd definitely recommend a 256MB card (it'll take nearly one hundred 5 megapixel photos). The only downside is that there is no case but the Sony ones that you can buy for it are huge anyway and I managed to pick up a Body Glove case for about �10 which is much smaller. I've enjoyed using it so much that I've now enrolled on a digital camera course, there's lots of functions on the camera that I haven't even touched on yet. My advice is definitely to get it, I really can't fault it.
