Product Description

Album Description

Hard on the heels of reissues of the classic Fleetwood Mac albums that she helped to create comes Christine McVie's long-awaited new solo album, In the Meantime. It isn't based on gimmicks or trend-hopping: it's simply a mistress of her craft returning to show the rest of the contenders how it's really done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songbird Returns, 21 Jun 2004
By Steven (Cheshire) - See all my reviews
'In the Meantime' is a wonderful album which sees the welcome return of Fleetwood Mac's former keyboardist/singer-songwriter Christine McVie. The tracks are in keeping with her proven record of lyrical beauty and simplicity, with a strong rhythm section and funky keyboards. Some songs are reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac in its heyday, particularly 'You Are' and 'Friend'. This will no doubt please Mac fans who lamented McVie's absence from the band's 2003 album 'Say You Will'. There is a variety of styles over the album, though, partly acknowledging the singer's blues roots and including writing contributions from a number of others, among whom are McVie's nephew Dan Perfect and former Mac guitarist Billy Burnette. Overall, this album will satisfy fans of Christine McVie's excellent ear for a catchy tune, and allow them once again to hear the beauty of her ageless honeyed vocals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Familiar sound, and a Welcome Return, 4 Jul 2004
By Mark (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
If there is one thing in popular music that you can count on it is that Christine McVie will always deliver the goods. Here, with her new solo album - the first in 20 years - she does just that. In The Meantime gives us back the beautiful voice which arguably kept Fleetwood Mac afloat for nearly 30 years. Buy it: it's a real treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back and better than ever, 8 Jul 2004
By Gailh (Southampton UK) - See all my reviews
This is Christine's first solo album in 20 years and her first recording since the live Dance album with Fleetwood Mac in 1997.

Her voice is better than ever - more expressive than before.

The songs, most of them written with her nephew Dan and/or various old friends are classic Christine McVie rock/pop.

Well worth the wait - this is what Fleetwood Mac's Say You Will was missing.

A must buy for all Christine McVie and Fleetwood Mac fans.
