Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
When a game is delayed as long as Juiced it rarely bodes well for the end product. The delay seems especially unfortunate in this case it’s meant the game has been beaten to the starting line by similar titles such as Need for Speed: Underground 2 and Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition.

Juiced is, like the other games mentioned, a street racer and has the same obsession with customising your car with both performance mods and after-market cosmetic alterations (all of which are based on real products). 7.5 trillion combinations are apparently possible, although you’ll have to trust THQ’s maths on that as its doubtful they’ve counted them personally.

What is truly unique about Juiced though is your ability to recruit and organise a team of your own racers. Special crew races are possible and you can control your team members in-race, in a similar manner to the B-spec mode in Gran Turismo 4. The show-off trick challenges are also a neat addition and a welcome alternative to the standard races.

Although it has some interesting features there are still some notable problems with Juiced, particularly in terms of the handling which is disappointingly simplistic and an uncomfortable halfway house between the likes of Gran Turismo and Ridge Racer. The artificial intelligence of rival drivers is also weak and outside of the more exotic game modes the game treads very similar ground to its rivals. As long as you’re not expecting anything too original though this is still a very competent racer. -- Harrison Dent

Manufacturer's Description
Juiced is the only racing simulation that totally immerses you in the lifestyle and culture of the real street modding scene.

Starting as a new kid on the block, with not even a set of wheels to your name, your aim is to build up your own crew of 'driving gods' and dominate the established street racing scene of Angel City.

By showing off your modding and driving skills, you'll gain 'Respect' from the rival crew chiefs, and will soon be invited to their race events, challenge them to race 'for pinks' and bet against them for cash. As your notoriety grows, new drivers will ask to join your crew, opening up the never before seen 'crew races' where your skills at managing your drivers while you race are key to beating your rival crews.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Concept, but that's about it, 9 Aug 2005
I had waited a couple of months until my exams were over to purchase 'Juiced'. The game I had anticipated and was not just the usual racing style format. I had played the Acclaim demo of the game and had enjoyed it thoroughly, accept for the odd glitch in the graphics which I tought would easily be corrected. I learnt when buying it however (at my local game store) that they had since gone bust and the project had been taken over by THQ. I was not bothered by this and decided to purchase it anyhow. The game started great, the menu and the intro video were amazing and I couldnt wait to start racing. This is where the problems began. I decided to do a free race as in career mode you lose respect for losing. I have games that are a couple of years old that are less jerky than this. Thinking it was due to lack of memory I deleted some unused software and ample space was available. However no difference. I then thought it must be the system requirements that was making such poor gameplay, I not only had the minimum requirements, I had a better system than the one that was recommended. So, confused I rung up the shop I had bought it from, asking what was the matter. They then told me to download the drivers because old ones can sometimes effect gameplay. So, I then proceeded to downlaod every possible driver available for my system hardware and prayed. One restarted, I thought it had worked, the menu and intro video were smoother and clearer than before and decided to enter another race. Well, heres the problems, the numbers counting down are jerky, the noise when the car changed gear were just sounds, they didnt even sound like a car!! Also, there were planes and helicopters flying in the sky that jumped flickering forward then backward, and dont even get me started on the rainy conditions which were just white lines that appeared really quickly then dissapeared, which I wouldn't of guessed was rain, but the sound was the only clue.
I cannot express how dissapointing thisgame is, even the cars look poor when racing, however not in the garage, when they look amazing. Trust me do not buy this game, buy another game that looks just as good such as NFS Underground or SRS Racing, just DON'T BUY THIS ONE. I am returning the game asap and have already got annoyed with the graphics, if you do buy it buy it from a shop so you can at least return it if you dont take my word for it. I wanted it to be good, however it was a good concept, and for £29.99 I don't think THQ did anything to it, except make it worse, how is that possible!!!??? Either take my word for it, or buy a poor £29.99 game which should be worth about £1.99.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved This Game!, 6 Oct 2005
this game runs as smooth as a baby's bottom on my system (Athlon 2600 (barton~1.9Ghz), Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 128Mb, 512Mb Pc3200 RAM)

i can turn the graphics options upto full and its still really smooth and my PC isn't exactly the best gaming PC ever!

i'm not completly impressed with the graphics details and such but its still fun! especialy with a mad Dodge Viper GTSR with over 1000Bhp :P

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, 19 Feb 2006
By A Customer
This is the worst racing game ive ever played. It tries to take the cool tuning and street action from NFSU2 and make it a new game, but the result is pathetically awful. The steering is like driving a duck-billed platypus across an ice rink and the acceleration is even worse. Do not buy this game(unless your trying to make someone elses life a misery). A complete abysmal disasterous disaster.
