I think only a die-hard WNW fans would want this CD, as is it not a greatest hits package.

The main reason I bought it was for the 4 tracks "Ballad Of You", "Land Of The Free", "The Death Of Mr. Ping Pong", and "One White Crow" - previously only available on the super-out-of-print and expensive "Anything Can Happen" maxi CD single. Just try and find a copy of that for under $40 in decent shape. So 3pounds (or $6 for me in Canada) is a steal.

For the unfamiliar fan, just get "What Up, Dog?" and "Are You Okay?".

I thought I would like this. I'm sure fans of Was Not Was would say that this collection is possibly not the best album with which to get into them. Over the years I've heard songs and snippets, and thought that one of these days I really ought to get some Was Not Was. I thought this collection (especially as it didn't include the annoying Walk the Dinosaur) would be an ideal starting point. I was very wrong. Horrible eighties over-bearing drums, annoying lines repeated over and over again. Vapid. Ugly. All that's worst about the worst kind of 80s music. Stuttering, jagged, overblown, blandly repetitive posing music.

I was astonished. I have extremely wide music tastes, and can appreciate a bit of anything, but this was literally the most irritating and pleasureless album I have ever heard. And I've heard some awful stuff in my time. Luckily I didn't pay much for it. This album contains at least 3 songs, that I simply cannot listen to. They have the same effect as finger nails on a blackboard.

I bet their latest album is good, and there has probably been some good stuff on albums over the years. But not on this 'Collection" Is this really considered the best of Was Not Was? It's terrible!!
