I was looking for a surround sound system with a DVD player and floor standing speakers that wasn't overly expensive. When this system caught my eye I knew I wanted it, not just for its stylish looks but the spec and sound capabilities stood out. I wasn't dissappointed.

The system was easy to set up with colour coded wires and the manual, as with most sony goods, was easy to use. The speakers produce excellent sound (each being 100W RMS) and there are sound modes such as movie, sport and news which are preset to get the best sound from whatever you're watching. The subwoofer
gives great base, alright it didn't blow the house down but it certainly does enough for the surround sound experience. The system is adequately produced for surround sound boasting Dolby Digital / DTS / Dolby ProLogic II decoders.

The only bad points that were apparent to me were that a) there are no individual sound controls, so for example, you can't turn the base up, and b) there is no scart input but only two audio inputs. It is still therefore possible to connect sky and for example a ps2 but just slightly more fiddlier!

Overall, this system is worth buying if you want it for watching movies/tv/sky/ps2 with the surround sound. As for the speakers, they're so handy and easily moveable with great sound. Plus the system plays, SACD / DVD / DVD-R / DVD-RW (video mode) / DVD+R / DVD+RW / CD / CD-R / CD-RW / Video CD / SVCD / MP3 / JPEG playback. Buy it!
