This player is great and really worth the money. These things sell on the highstreet for around 250 or more, so you are saving about sixty pounds.
This may seem similar to an ipod, but is far better. It has far more battery life on its rechargeable cell, and can also use AA batteries. It has an ulimited capacity, using 1gb removeable minidiscs (which are about 5pounds for 3) and normal mds. It has a radio, and in-line remote, as well as an easy to use file layout. its software is very user-friendly and extremely easy to use.
each 1 gb disc can hold between 15 and 45 hours music depending on compression. hope this helps

4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the box ..., 22 Nov 2004
    By A Customer
I have spent quite some time researching which portable player to buy, as the last one I bought is an old cassette/fm radio player! As you can imagine this has been quite an education for me. I chose this one as I am going on a very long journey, and I can get by with one battery for over 24 hours play and carry replacement discs at not much storage space.
Not being brilliant on any computer (and using my work's one as I don't have one of my own!), I have managed to upload and use the software easily, except the CDDB (database information of cd names and track listing). I have typed these in by hand instead (no real hardship). I have read loads of reveiws about the sound quality, and recorded one CD in all the different recording formats to try them out. I couldn't hear the difference (probably through in-ear phones) between Hi-SP and Hi-LP, so have gone for the long play option and can't believe how much material I can get on one disc.
I am disappointed the display is not backlit, and have had to use some imaginative editing methods to get my music into groups, so that I can then play the "genre" I want in random order. Otherwise this does exactly what it says on the box. (P.S. I have managed to buy replacement discs on the internet, and intend to record all of my family's CD collections!)

I purchased this mini disc recorder because it has a radio. I have to say while the radio reception is ok it's not brilliant. Despite this I love this player. It's simple to use even for a first time buyer like myself. The joy is you can connect it to your hifi with the supplied optical cable & start recording straight away. Using your pc you can record directly to your recorder or you can edit then record using the supplied software. I was disgusted to find the case that came with it was just a soft cloth pouch which provides no protection except against dust. I gave only 4 stars because of the pouch and the radio reception. The price on amazon was excellent.
