4.0 out of 5 stars a lot more to come from this lot..., 15 Sep 2004
Not the kind of record I would normally buy. Its a bit twee like Belle & Sebastian and fans of the afore mentioned group would not be dissapointed by this. Its a fairly solid debut with only a couple of slow duff tracks holding it back. Opening track "A Friend Like You", "Summer's Gone" and "Heliopolis By Night" are all wonderful folk-pop gems. What's cool about this albums is that it seems to have been recorded on a budget of around 15p. Well worth a look and I reckon they could build up a committed cult following on a par with Belle & Sebastian. With any luck they should be around for a while.

4.0 out of 5 stars good but not great, 27 May 2004
By A Customer
Aberfeldy fit into that genre of music somewhere between country and indie-rock. the band prefer the use of accoustic guitars to that of electric, which gives this album a more relaxed feel to it. the lyrics are alternative and generally have a very random subject matter(vegetarian restaurant)- this however makes in a more interesting listen. the great thing about this album and the band is that you cant say they fit into the any genre or compare them to any other band, original!which is very had to find these days. this is definetly an album for the summer with the majority of the songs putting a smile on your face. if you break down in the middle of the desert- this is what keeps you happy. but you dont have to break down to enjoy the overall beautiful harmonies on this album. the only flaw with the album is that the songs are similar. i personally do not mind this, but many people do. im sure many people have not heard of this band but i still suggest you but it, maybe for those horrible traffic jams to and from work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome album!, 4 Jun 2006

I first heard aberfeldy last sunday supporting beautiful south and they were amazing. They are really talented and have a certain 60's feel about them. I liked that their music is chilled and funky at the same time, quite a summery album with interesting and deep lyrics. I bought the album at the concert and have been listening to it since. They have quite an original style and it's all recorded using just one mic to give a different quality to the sound. It's brilliant, I love it. You'll be hooked the first time you hear it!
